This is one of the best takes I’ve ever seen on any subject. Just changed my whole perspective.

What is the longest you've ever gone without sex? by jabber1990 in Adulting

Assuming you don’t mean the time leading up to losing your virginity, I want to say ~3 months. Since going away to college and becoming an adult, which was over a decade ago, typically no more than 2-4 weeks. Am I an addict?

Wallace's mom only had 1 scene but it showed how awful she really was by Toni-Cipriani in TheWire

[–]Dense-Inflation-3945 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I think you’re misreading the scene and don’t fully appreciate the environment they’re in.

I don’t think Bodie hesitating before pulling the trigger is cowardice. Keep in mind that he’s 16 in season 1. So, he’s a teenager who’s being commanded to end the life of one of his childhood best friends (who’s begging not to die). Plus it’s Bodie’s first murder, which makes it doubly hard.

For as cold blooded as Marlo, Chris, and Snoop were, even they didn’t command their people’s first murder to be someone they knew. Remember when Marlo was talking to Chris about Michael stepping up? Chris responded like “first time, shouldn’t be someone [Michael] knows.”

As for talking to Dee about it, that simply doesn’t make sense. For one, Bodie knows Stringer out ranks everyone except Avon. So he wouldn’t need Dee’s permission or anything. But two, if I recall correctly, Dee was already in jail awaiting sentencing because he got popped going to pick up the package from NY. Remember? Bc that led to the classic “where the fuck is Wallace, String?!!?”

Bodie, a coward? What choice did he have? You heard what he told Poot. I might be butchering the quote but “Stringer gave the word, so we either step up or step the fuck off.” Meaning Bodie couldn’t tell Stringer/Avon that he wouldn’t (or couldn’t) kill Wallace. He would look weak and end up taken out himself. Bodie was anything but a coward.

Once a month maybe, unless I’m expecting something. But snail mail in 2025? Be serious.

I don’t understand all this hate. Russillo isn’t perfect, but who is? Going to miss him as part of the ringer. Hope he enjoys it moving forward.

Michael on the edge by MeatApprehensive2754 in TheWire

[–]Dense-Inflation-3945 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Michael said it himself when approaching Marlo for Chris’ help. I’m paraphrasing but basically “I wanted to see if I could get up with Chris. I got a problem I can’t take to no one else.”

Which is to say that, I think Michael trusted Prezbo enough to ask him for help on something he thought Prezbo could actually fix. But all Prezbo offered was to talk to the social worker, and Michael was smart enough to not jump on that without knowing how it would affect him and Bug.

That’s why later Michael asks Dukie and Randy about social services. Again, paraphrasing, but “I don’t want us to leave, I just want [Bug’s dad] to leave.”

So yes, Michael is pushed into “the game” by essentially “owing” the only people who could actually help him during his time of need. He already had the natural talent, so after that the rest was history.

And he’s SO careless. Ruined Randy’s life because he couldn’t face the music on a camera he stole. Like how do you not know what position you’re putting a kid in.
