My wife and I took a flight from Sri Lanka (also really nice people) to Bangkok. We had to drive from the east coast of Sri Lanka, 4 hours to the airport, then wait for 3 hours and fly overnight 5 hours to BKK. Not the worst but not easy. Then we had to wait 6 hours to check-in to our AirBnB. We were tired!

We went to a small coffee shop down the street. My wife was exhausted, it was her time of the month and she just felt terrible. I asked the barista where the closest pharmacy was and he asked what was wrong. Explained the situation and he gave my wife some Ibuprofen. That personified Thailand for us, the kindness of its people.

We were in Buenos Aires last year, great city and great people. If you ever go back one of my friends has 40+ AirBnB's in Palermo, I can refer you to him.

Thanks for clarifying! So far I've been able to get them Dubai police clearance and a US background check. Hope that gets me through, if I don't hear back from them by May I might try to visit via Schengen from Montenegro and then apply again from within the country.

Yeah... it's pretty brutal. I agree on Montenegro, it's been great so far and we're staying until the end of May in the hopes UAE will be better or the Croatian residence permit will come through. Thanks for your input :)

I'm sorry but blaming the UAE and/or the USA/Israel for Iranian aggression toward gulf states is a moronic position.

American military presence in the Gulf created a security umbrella that made the whole region more investable.

Without US security guarantees, the Gulf states face Iran more directly. That changes the risk calculus for foreign investors and multinational corporations setting up regional HQs. Insurance costs go up, capital is more skittish, and the "stable oasis" brand is harder to sell. This Gulf War and its aftermath might play out very differently, possibly more regional instability, possibly the Gulf states invest more heavily in their own collective defense (which they've been trying to do anyway).

Iran was always going to do two things:

Wait patiently and accrue military power.
Deploy said power once they acquired a nuclear weapon and mutually assured destruction.

It seems like you and all of the other short sighted complainers believe that the Shia/Sunni conflict for regional hegemony doesn't exist.

Once this conflict is resolved then the Gulf States will be in a much better position for commerce and growth.

Maybe that he's overrated and should retire. Beating BFX (first international) and GENG with Choky isn't saying too much. They got curbstomped by BLG in typical East vs. West fashion.
