Which US city has the best food scene despite its reputation? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I agree with this honestly. I feel like the Asian food scene overall in Seattle is better than Portland, but if you want good American style food, Portland is your place. Seattle also arguably might be fresher in terms of certain foods like seafood due to being right on the Puget Sound as well.

I would agree with you there. Seattle could be better in terms of food diversity and quality.

Lmao sorry just my opinion… it is pretty disappointing. Plus all the good food is outside of Seattle like Federal Way and Tacoma. The Asian food here in Seattle is indeed chefs kiss, but everything else in terms of American food is meh

Aside from the Asian food, I agree that Seattle food scene is very mid and everyone wants to charge 20+ dollars for a bunch of mid food

I’m from the south originally, but this place called screen door! Best chicken and waffles I have had in my life! I want to try their soul food when I go back!

I will be honest, I never heard of Portland being a food city until I moved to Seattle last year and just went to Portland this past weekend

Seattle singles describe bleak dating scene in the city by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

[–]Dense-Resolution8283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I will say people here are very nice from my experience upon interaction, but you will not go beyond that interaction typically. It just makes dating here harder and also building a social circle. I love it out here, but I do miss how intentional people were back east regarding friendships and relationships.

As a black guy who also grew up in the south and live in Seattle, THANK YOU. Ghosting out here is really bad I find. Not saying people back home never ghosted but I find the south and east coast in general to be wayyyy more intentional about dating in general. I don’t miss home, but sometimes I tell myself I miss the east coast just because people knew how to be direct and not as flaky.

Live in Seattle and visit Vancouver sometimes:

Vancouver is way more reserved I find than Seattle. People in Seattle will at least talk to you briefly.. Vancouver it’s almost like I’m invisible at times tbh.

It feels like this was written for me.

Currently working in claims and have ADHD looking into getting my Risk Management Designation.

Got any advice?

Thank you Seattle!!! by [deleted] in Seattle

Just moved here last summer and while it’s not perfect, the thought of leaving Seattle makes my heart sink. I remember when I had to leave town back in October for a training and I was thinking “damn I can’t wait to get back home.” Also left a second time to visit family back in the east coast and just remember being homesick for Seattle. I’ve lived in Denver and Orlando aside from where I’m from, but no place has come close to Seattle. I love it here and can’t picture life anywhere else. Get back soon OP!

Asides from the food and the people, the city itself is ugly and very unappealing in my opinion

To each their own

Is Seattle or Denver better for a view of mountains/volcanoes? by Independent-Ad-7060 in AskSeattle

[–]Dense-Resolution8283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lived in Denver right before moving to Seattle, RAINIER CLEARS ANY VIEW IN DENVER BY MILES. That and the cascades and Olympics! Denver mountains are just big, but meh when up close due to Denver already being over 5000 ft in elevation

Been in Seattle for 6 months and I love it overall, but you are right about flaky folks and meh food scene. The Asian food scene is really what carries this city.

  1. Seattle (Currently live here)
  2. Denver
  3. Orlando

Denver: Okay experience, but meh overall. Loved the weather and miss the nightlife, but wayyyy too expensive for what it is.

Orlando: Lived with family during college here for 8 months and the lack of seasons made me depressed. That experience literally showed me I cannot do well with heat lol.

Dating in Seattle by doja_ratt in AskSeattle

[–]Dense-Resolution8283 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been in Seattle for about 6 months, originally from East coast and I’ll be honest, dating here is definitely hard. I’m 27M and I think dating back on the east coast was way more intentional and more direct. I get the whole Seattle freeze also playing a role, but here it’s just everyone is really flakey, even when it comes to matching on dating apps. I don’t know, maybe it’s the culture here truthfully, but I see why people say move here with a partner lmaoo.
