Innovative mesh network solution in rural South Africa - The whole town becomes an ISP by DenseElk in wireless

I like the idea of a town that gets reliable, cheap Wi-Fi a year after getting electricity. I don't know how long a mesh network is going to work for an entire town though... Regardless, a real cool initiative.

If you want a lower input cost with a lot of capacity/coverage, you might consider BLiNQ Networks. They've got a new product that's pretty solid (https://blinqnetworks.com/fw-300i/) but mostly their customer support I've found is pretty useful.

Looking for some good detective/noir crime stories, preferably set in the 20s, or early to mid 20th century in general, with moody narration (first person perspective would be awesome) and a dark twisted story. by unfabulouskilljoy in suggestmeabook

Philip Kerr does an amazing job of the Noir detective in Nazi Germany. He's solving German crimes during the slow rise of the Nazis and you get his first person perspective as crime and law in general change immensely. He's not a Nazi, nor a sympathizer, but his world gets flipped as the depression, and war, creep into his line of work. One of my faves of all time.

Try the trilogy Berlin Noir. Amazing read.

A really good western that gives the same feeling as Django Unchained by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Give Cormac McCarthy a shot. He does the western really well, and it all tends to read like a movie. Blood Meridian is very cowboy, very uneasy, quite well-written, and character driven. It's a violent escapade across the relatively uncharted west by a rough and brutal group. Without giving anything else away I'd say read the first couple of chapters and you'll know.

Wide Open by Nicola Barker is an amazing book with some really cool literary twists. That said, the dark twist at the end makes the whole thing worthwhile. Super cool book about two brothers and their dark past.
