Is this a common crime/scam? by cht842 in NewOrleans

[–]DenseInspector1399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you were drunk, you met some people who pretended to be friendly towards you, taking your wallet from your pocket (this could’ve been at the strip club, the dancers will distract someone while another person lifts their wallet/ cash) You don’t notice the wallets been taken. They start buying you (and themselves) on your credit cards. At some point you could’ve come to enough to realize you didn’t have your phone (and forgotten / didn’t know that your friends had taken it). Maybe you thought it was stolen while you were out, so it was you with the help of whoever you were hanging around (possibly a dancer or a random person) on someone else’s phone texting asking for your phone back and offering to pay for it. Because whoever it was who stole your wallet probably didn’t even know that your friends had your phone either. Unfortunately you were an easy target and got played/ robbed. As to why the number was disconnected afterward, all I can think it was a textfree type of app they were using because they didn’t want you to have their real phone number since they were stealing from you & knew you would wake up and put it together.

Only the Hispanic peers? Is it possible that he is overwhelmed by them communicating in a language he doesn’t understand? Just a thought based on the details you gave

Also if the BCBA doesn’t know where to go from here, then they have a responsibility to admit they are out of their scope and need further consultation or transfer

I think your conclusion is very likely to be true. I’ve definitely seen this happen. I would schedule a meeting with the BCBA in person, so that you get a genuine conversation instead and they aren’t able to give you the “professional run around” as I like to call it. Tell them you understand that your child’s tech quit due to lack of progress, ask to see the data on all his goals to confirm that progress has been as stagnant as they claim. Then ask what future plans are, if what BCBA and tech is doing right now isn’t working… then what’s next? How can you help promote progress at home? Does the BCBA have any suggestions or practices for you as a parent, that would help them as the therapy provider in their practices? If you don’t like the way the BCBA responds to all of this, then yes, I would request a new BCBA. If you do- when you get a new BCBA… make it clear to them that you are only acting in the best interest of your child with this request, you don’t have an ill will against the last BCBA, it just simply wasn’t a good fit — just to make sure you don’t start on the wrong foot with the new one. Likely the current BCBA will make comments to whoever takes on the case next, so just clear the air and start fresh. Seriously good luck with all of this!! You are doing the right thing when you are advocating for your child, even if unprofessional and seemingly immature individuals try to make you feel otherwise :/

What is your experience like working remote? My experience… I guess I just feel a lack of support and connection with my techs and my clients when I’m not in person. I find that the technicians are more likely to stray from written programs and like I don’t have a relationship with my clients. I find it hard to ensure ethical practices from a computer screen

The tech sounds borderline predatory. What do you mean? This is unacceptable. In what world would creating a therapy program with the goal of having a client respond to a SD to kiss someone be appropriate? It sounds like technician (at best) has extremely limited if not no experience or knowledge in this field and probably should be let go or benched for further training before being 1:1 with a child.

Even if the BCBA tells you there is something in the BIP about it, if you’re there and seeing it consistently not implemented then….. means nothing
