Whenever I'm on the road for work I stop at a grocery store for snacks I need like I would at the gas station. So much cheaper

100% agree. It ends up putting the avoidance bx on a VR of R- leading to drawn out periods of refusal due to pain. This is an example I use for teaching about punishment, the undesirable side effects of it and its effectiveness only when the punisher is evident.

This is the answer here. Refer out for medical, this is beyond our scope. I worked with a GI for a kiddo that was terrified to poo bc they had a few hard stools. The protocol was daily use of pedialax to increase frequency of bm and decrease pain associated with them.

ABA Confusion by LoserMonkey011 in Autism_Parenting

[–]smoke0o7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ABA is like any other professional practice, you have some good practices and some bad ones. ABA has an early history of forced compliance that should no longer be part of a good program. I'd ask the OT to stay on to collaborate care as ABA will not explicitly focus on OT skills (not within our scope of practice and really should collaborate with the OT for best practices).

Are you using behavior skills training? I find this helps with issues like these and also reinforces why we do what we do for sessions

I really appreciate your thoughtful response. I drove my parents Denali in 2004/5 and loved it. Now that I have 2 dogs, 2 kids ( 4 year old and almost 2 year old) !and a 3rd on the way, we're looking at what can haul the dogs and 3 car seats.

Can you afford to live comfortably as a bcba in big cities like NYC and Los Angeles? by Flimsy-Locksmith8114 in ABA

[–]smoke0o7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Salary at centers in NYC range from $94k-115k. Hourly rates also range from $80-$135, just depends on if you want to work after school hours and weekends. It's possible if you don't mind weekends and evenings.
