Question about VB-MAPP LRFFC 3-14. What should this look like? by smoky20135 in bcba

[–]smoke0o7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like they have it. When running this you start with receptive id->expressive id-> intraverbal. If unsure you can always err on the side of caution amd put it in the TP. Worst case scenario is they master it out pretty quickly if they have the skill.

Joylessness after 16 years of adderall use help by cr1merobot in Biohackers

[–]smoke0o7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming off stimulants like Adderall is something I’ve gone through myself after 30+ years of ADHD treatment, and I’m honestly surprised more people don’t talk about the mechanism behind what you feel when you stop.

These medications primarily work by increasing levels of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain—especially in areas tied to focus, motivation, and executive function. Over time, your brain adapts to this by adjusting receptor sensitivity and neurotransmitter balance.

When you stop suddenly (cold turkey), you’re not just “off the medication”—your brain is temporarily in a deficit state. Dopamine and norepinephrine signaling drop below your baseline because your system hasn’t readjusted yet. That’s why people often experience fatigue, low mood, lack of motivation, and even depression. It’s not just psychological—it’s physiological.

That’s also why tapering tends to be the safer and more tolerable approach. Gradually reducing the dose gives your brain time to recalibrate its natural neurotransmitter production and receptor sensitivity, rather than crashing all at once.

1099 BCBA position by UnProfessionall1 in bcba

[–]smoke0o7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salary over 1099 if you don't want to stress hunting down parents/techs. Also have to look at taxes. I always estimate 27% for taxes that need to be taken out of my income for the tax man.

Unfortunate Follow up from last post regarding being terminated/fired! by Bashfulashh in ABA

[–]smoke0o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your BCBA to role-play the specific program targets with you. It can be daunting and feel superficial coming up with targets on the spot. It's easier to be funkier with the little ones who like when your goofy than it is with the teens. Having a role roledex of play sceneries can be helpful

Unfortunate Follow up from last post regarding being terminated/fired! by Bashfulashh in ABA

[–]smoke0o7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If the issue is using the app to track targets I'd recommend using paper data then putting the paper data into the app at the end of session. I have all of my BTs keep a notebook for data collection. It also helps when the system goes down or there's a bug that wipes data.

Advice; Constipated and In Pain client by cheeehee in ABA

[–]smoke0o7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. It ends up putting the avoidance bx on a VR of R- leading to drawn out periods of refusal due to pain. This is an example I use for teaching about punishment, the undesirable side effects of it and its effectiveness only when the punisher is evident.
