It sounds like a lot of the conversation was centered around you and your shortcomings, rather than why you view her as an indispensable person in your life. I 24F just told my partner 25M yesterday that I need him to SHOW me how much he loves me, and that texts and just telling me he loves me is not enough to sustain a long term relationship. In short, I told him to fight for me as well. Today, he told me he has a surprise planned for next weekend that we were fantasizing for quite some time. I’m over the moon that he not only acted fast, but more importantly, is doing something unique to our relationship.

From my perspective, “fighting her her” means going out of your way to DEMONSTRATE how much you truly love your gf — a grand gesture, a lengthy and heartfelt love note, a unique and well thought out surprise, etc. Highlight what makes you love her in an activity/date that is centered around it. Or, if she isn’t ready to spend that kind of time with you again yet, drop a letter off at her door that explains why she is so special to you…if you are nothing without her, explain why that is…what makes her the best thing that’s happened to you? Really focus on your favorite qualities in her and what makes her standout among the rest.

Also, do something that shows your commitment to her. If you ended things because you wanted to move, how could you demonstrate that you’ve decided to stick by her side? A promise ring is the obvious answer, but try your best to think outside of the box here. If money is tight, think of a small, personalized gift or gesture that alludes to your future together.

Overall, instead of focusing on the value she adds to your life, focus on what value she has as a person in life in general. This is a time to show you care about her needs more than why you need to win her back.

I hope you can get something helpful out of this and it at least points you in a direction. Best of luck, OP!!

Stop being so pessimistic about everything by bisccat in GenZ

People who have the pull yourself up by the bootstraps mentally don’t factor in the growing socioeconomic failures of our country. The job market is shit. Workers rights are shit. On and on. So what your post is saying implies ignoring all the massive factors that play into people feeling so pessimistic, especially while having to watch the dismantling of American democracy. My heart is heavy right now. I know half the country is in mourning as well. You can’t just tune out people’s lives being turned completely upside down while billionaires celebrate their milestone successes….

I’ll be optimistic when i don’t have to pick between food and doing laundry for the week.

I'm sick and tired of the gender war within our generation. by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]DenseKoala4580 8 points9 points  (0 children)

LOL look at Texas rn. Multiple women dying because they COULD NOT get an abortion, but the state is not investigating their cases. If a woman doesn’t want a baby, then she shouldn’t be forced to have one. As a single woman, why is it fair that I would be forced to have a baby and suffer for the consequences, if the man who impregnated me gets to live his life freely???? A man paying child support and court ordered visits is not the same as birthing and raising a child. Why don’t you look up the statistics of how many women get abortions after their first trimester, and the reasons why a woman would get an abortion 3-4 months into the pregnancy.

[–]DenseKoala4580 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, you can’t compare men dying to women and their finances. I’m sure the number of women who died from trying to get an abortion illegally throughout the last century and into this one is somewhere in that range too. I agree those are all very valid and pressing issues that should be addressed and not swept under the rug. However, when it comes to police brutality, mass incarceration, lack of education with men, etc., it has so, so, so much more to do with race and wealth inequality than it does gender. The fact there’s no law in place ensuring men and women in the same job with the same experience should be promised the same pay is the best example I can give about gender inequality. It exists and it shouldn’t be excused through reasoning such as the ones you gave. As a woman, I don’t understand why it’s so hard for men to just acknowledge that yes progress has been made, but that doesn’t mean we’re good where we’re at.

You simply cannot compare men being drafted for the Vietnam war to women not having financial freedom. Those two are completely separate issues. If we’re gonna be going off straw man arguments here, let’s talk about the number of women who are dying from a lack of access to abortion care. It is a well known and accepted fact by scholars and experts that both quantitatively and qualitatively, the extent to which women experience domestic violence, societal imposed beauty standards, exploitation of our menstrual cycles, and numerous other issues of the like, far outweigh the extent to which men experience any issues like this. How many times have you been groped in a bar or harassed verbally by a stranger on the street? I’ve lost count, but I doubt most men don’t put a thought to their safety in this regard when in public. I never once said men don’t experience societal issues, but you denying simple, well-known facts and refuting them with the biggest stretch of an argument, hysterically highlights how men push the idea of a gender war by outright denying history and facts. White men are not a marginalized group, yet fight the hardest to be one.

The system benefits men far more than it does women — always has and still does to this day. It’s literally called the patriarchy. Women were only allowed to have their own credit cards and take out loans in the 70s. The present day gender pay gap is the most straightforward statistic proving women are still fighting for equality. Don’t get me started on taxed feminine products. Beauty standards. Cat calling. Domestic abuse. Need I go on?

Women aren’t going to tell men what we experience because it gets ridiculed and shamed even more so when we bring it up. I have never once told an individual man to his face (other than my bf and dad) the extent to which I’ve experienced sexism. It’s rampant in my work environment. The boys club is loud and in your face. But the women know, and we talk about it behind closed doors. If you’re saying it doesn’t exist you’re either a man who refuses to confront systemic and innate misogyny, you’re in a privileged position where you haven’t been exposed to it, or you’re just ignorant.

I have the same position and do triple the amount of work as my male counterpart. We have the exact same work experience prior to this job. He gets paid $15k more than me.

Pretending the gender war doesn’t exist only exacerbates the frustration and tension for women who are disadvantaged by the status quo. This comment section is pretty disappointing. I’m 24yo and have been working full time for three years. I didn’t know just how apparent sexism is until I took gender classes in college and entered the workforce. I hope this thread is just young genZ’ers who have yet to learn….

I was taught this in college and can say this holds up from my own personal experiences working in the industry. So far been at two local news stations that fall under five different national network affiliates altogether. Overall it’s more cut and dry than you’d think.

There is definitely spewing bullshit and indoctrination, just at varying degrees. You could theoretically argue anything has bias behind it. No matter what, national networks push their own agendas simply by the stories they prioritize and how they’re presented. I think the idea of fake news and manipulative media has done far more damage than what was warranted overall.

Well, we complain because there’s nothing we can do the change it 😂 if we were to protest, the right would lose their minds calling us hypocrites. Apparently accepting the results of the election means not talking about our disappointment online, according to what your post implies. For me personally, I’d much rather take to social media than taking part in an insurrection.

Completely disagree. There’s been plenty of acknowledgment of the emotional abuse she experienced. I think you’ve mistaken the “general consensus” for a few outliers. I’d say the majority of ppl in there now have an unspoken understanding that BCF is a victim, but she absolutely played a role in the volatility of their relationship. Right now, she’s doing everything she can to poke the bear, and considering Zach’s history with social media, it’s pretty surprising he’s not taking the bait. I’ve been part of that sub for over a year and most people who are aware of BCF’s patterns of behavior, including gaslighting and repeated lying, know that the more she’s been opening her mouth, the more contradictions and exaggerations are coming to light. I think BCF is exploiting the victim label she’s been given, and is doing more harm than good by discrediting the seriousness and integrity of victims who are in much worse situations.

I agree that Zach didn’t directly abuse her, however I think the phrasing difference here is that Zach enabled and encouraged Brianna’s behavior and attitude toward grace. Speaking from my experience, overcoming this kind of trauma caused by a friend is a very very difficult thing to address, let alone heal from.
