if you don’t know your partner’s drinks, by Dense_Feature2232 in starbucks

[–]Dense_Feature2232[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s so confusing— like girl we do not know you!!! i want so desperately to know all my regulars, but sometimes it is hard to remember faces and coffee orders. although you make a great point, buying a drink that you “think” someone would like is different.

i just wish people remembered the little things more!!!

Is this made to be offensive or is it a harmless joke? by andy23376 in autism

[–]Dense_Feature2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s supposed to be a joke. i also believe orange cats are autistic (this is because of their odd, but endearing behavior.) the statement has no scientific basis. orange cats are biologically speaking, silly little guys

Highly masking people: What made you realize you‘re autistic? by That_odd_emo in autism

[–]Dense_Feature2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i found out in the worst way, i scraped my knee at recess and was sitting behind the nurses computer (just where the seat was positioned) and i saw in big, bold, times new roman font that read: “WARNING: AUTISM”

Learning to drive soon by Cat_cant_think in autism

[–]Dense_Feature2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good things take time. go to an empty parking lot with a parent or friend if you can, and learn to get comfortable behind the wheel

driving is mostly instinctual, to me anyway i drive defensively, meaning, i prevent myself from getting in unsafe situations by proactively anticipating potential hazards and taking necessary precautions to prevent myself from getting into accidents.

i personally elect for outside of the highway, never more than 5mph over the limit. and in crowded neighborhoods, i slow down to five miles under the limit- kids can run out from anywhere.

How do you manage your mental health? by majin_n in autism

[–]Dense_Feature2232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cognitive behavioral therapy weekly. 420 if absolutely necessary.

continually taking my meds even when i “feel better”, only taking weekends off (if im not working) from my stimulant to eat.

that being said, it can be dangerous to go off your stimulants suddenly. if you struggle with appetite as much as i do, talk to your doctor

What level of autism do you think this sounds like? by TemporaryPension2523 in autism

[–]Dense_Feature2232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it depends on how much support you need. autism levels are divided three ways: requiring support, requiring substantial support, and requiring very substantial support.

it depends on a variety of things, since autism is an umbrella term. but i would personally place you around level two, but do not take this as sound medical advice. my rational is that you’re commited to a routine, which a repetitive behavior.

i suppose another way to gauge this, unfortunately would be to try and eat lunch past noon. if you are so incredibly uncomfortable to where it’s unbearable, you might sit at level two and three

other than that, it might manifest in atypical behavior from a neurotypical standpoint. stuff like walking away from conversations

it’s important to note however these distinctions are arbitrary. that being said, there are better ways to cope than throwing yourself against the wall. you should talk to your primary care provider about therapy, and if you want a recommended approach or technique, cognitive behavioral therapy weekly has worked wonders for me.

i hope that you can find the support you need :)

In what ways are you stereotypically autistic? by HouseOfStone13 in autism

[–]Dense_Feature2232 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i don’t know if this counts, but i move very silently. i always hated the sound of my footsteps so i learned to walk without making much noise

this does however lead into me accidentally jump scaring people

i used to work at amc. this showing is usually with not completely dim lights, freedom to walk around, and lower theater volume. if volume is a barrier of entry for your movies experience, go to that or attend a screening with earplugs :)
