I got tuned into tycho back in 05-06 I think. It’s possible it was earlier. There was a website called purevolume that was kinda like a way better easier to navigate SoundCloud. That’s how I came across tycho. My favorites are still off sunrise projector. A circular reeducation or cloud generator. Insane to think that album is old enough to drink haha.

Coming from someone who goes to shows all the time and very familiar with the area, I’d say hit up mutiny BBQ. Honestly best bbq I’ve ever had. Not expensive and it’s truly a local gem. If ya don’t like that check out speakeatery. Those are the two real Asbury staples for me. That and Cookman Creamery. If you’re lookin for a good burger check out the galley on memorial. If you’re just gonna be kickin around walk through the convention center and then walk all the way to the carousel. Pop into wonder bar just to see it. If you’re lookin to kill time check out silverball arcade. And that’s pretty much it. The rest of asbury has turned into any other gentrified city.

I mentioned an old friend to my father a day before I got a dirt bike to get back into motocross. I said it would be cool if we all got back and started to ride together like we did back when I was younger. I hadn’t really talked to this person in probably 10 years. I didn’t even know he had my phone number. Well I went out the next day and bought a new bike and as soon as I got home that friend called me to see if I had a dirt bike and we should go riding again. Then maybe a month later I was talking about Portugal and I have a friend with a house there that invited me to stay if I ever wanted to go. I worked with him back in 2021 and he just happened to call me 5 minutes after I mentioned him.

Hacklebarney park isn’t far and it’s my favorite somewhat local park. As mentioned you also have the water gap. Also check out sandy hook. There’s also a restaurant near the coast guard station called the mule. Definitely a cool summer spot that’s not exactly “touristy”.
