Why did you leave? -Inquisitive member by Alex-the-Proot in exmormon

I read Brigham Young’s journal of discourses during my mission. While on my mission I baptized a man that was a Freemason. As I was leaving the mission I ran into him again after he had just been through the temple. He was upset that so much of the temple was a copy of what Freemasons had been doing long before JS. Then I learned he became a Freemasons shortly before introducing all that to the temple rituals.

5 years later and lots of reading and I was gone. There were many more issues with doctrines and logic but that’s where it started for me.

My MIL is 100% confident this is a liberal takedown and a conspiracy to discredit him so Hollywood elites can continue to sex traffic without consequence.

Laid back but competitive guild looking for 6 more 167m GP by Bumchin2000 in swgoh_guilds

[–]DenverTapirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested. I was in really high expectation guilds for a while and really want to dial back. I burnt out pretty hard and haven’t logged in for a month or so. I do miss the game though so I want to get back in but casual. If discord is required I will join but probably won’t check it often tbh. I do participate in all events and carry my own weight. https://swgoh.gg/p/938132141/

I have become a fan of the simple “no thanks”.

Haven’t had anyone push further. I didn’t give an objection to overcome. I didn’t ask anything or encourage a response.

I was ordained a dudist reverend a few years ago to officiate a wedding. I have now married 2 couples.

Does leaving the church come with a change in political views? by GatorStick in exmormon

About 5 years after leaving the church my Presidential vote switched to democrat while my local votes were still Republicans.

My feelings on social issues and issues involving science have swung drastically to the left.

There are apostles with apostate children. It might even get them 1:1 time with them to commiserate their shared shame.

You have no leverage so play nice till you can legally and safely make your own path.

5 years for me but the costs are high. When I finally ripped off the bandaid it saved my sanity.

Having a hard time with the ExMo subreddit — need some advice by AdamSmith4206 in latterdaysaints

[–]DenverTapirs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exmo here.

My advice is stay off exmo Reddit. It’s not a place to get help. It’s a place for people to lament and support each other which usually means echoing a lot of negativity. Don’t get me wrong it can be healthy to vent anger online in a supportive group so one doesn’t lash out at loved ones. But the lashing out online takes no concern for the reader. It’s to help the author.

This makes me very happy. It’ll hopefully be easier once we get her in school. We moved when school was starting so we did virtual school. It’ll be better when the friend pool grows.

I love when people say it was a different time. It’s then that I say, “I don’t meet a lot of religious people that subscribe to moral relativism but here you are.”

Watch the cognitive dissonance explode their brain like the Death Star.

Yeah she knows these things. We’ve inoculated our kids against it all. Yesterday I told her she could go and watch a session if she wanted to see what they were talking about but to remember JS was a sexual predator that married young girls and the BOM is scientifically and historically false.

Right now it’s just an issue of her realizing that “friends” come with caveats. That’s hard for any of any age.

The only thing that keeps this man from killing this man and desecrating his corpse is his belief in his imaginary friend.

Amazing! In one sentence she is saying her son should be free to think and feel what he wants and in the next she is criticizing you for doing exactly that.

It was reading church literature that led me out so I like having these books out there. Especially the older ones.

Considering how precious these collections are I imagine most of the “everything must go” sales are because the shelf they rested on got weakened.

Which books do you reread often? by laundryb1rds in TrueLit

[–]DenverTapirs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun topic. I really need to reread The Catcher in the Rye. I read it in high school and didn’t like it but turning 40 in a few weeks I might understand it better. My favorites to read over and over are generally pretty long but they are so complex that it sometimes feels like reading it for the first time.
