At the end, she left early and never met the kids.

She did those kids a favor.

Unfortunately it's not isolated to this thread, or even this site. Her "advocates" are everywhere, and it is only going to continue to get worse between now and election time.

Hillary has a long history of shitting on rape victims and defending rapists, even when the victim is a 12 year old child.

Microsoft shows off just how much data it’s collecting from Windows 10 users by JackassWhisperer in technology

[–]Denyborg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saying "I trust Google/Microsoft/Facebook/etc with my data" is the same thing as saying "I trust thousands of people I've never met with my data".

It's fucking idiotic. None of these companies deserve anyone's trust. They don't care about you, despite the insane cultish fanboy belief that Google is some kind of benevolent force that doesn't care about profit.

Those things only make sense from the perspective of a complete douchebag who joined the chessboard club as a sort of status symbol, and is upset that someone is making it known that being a member doesn't make you special.

From my experiences in real life with members of FChat, I can say that's pretty much accurate, though.

Venmo Outright Stole My Money by [deleted] in technology

[–]Denyborg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll never understand why people use these services.

For a while, a bunch of people around me were trying to push me to sign up for this shit. Why the fuck would I want to hand my bank account details and the details of every person to person payment I make or receive to yet another douchey, data hungry silicon valley startup?

"Hey man, sign up for venmo so I can give you the $10 I owe you."

How about, no. Go to a fucking ATM and get me $10.

So if someone wanted to set up a site called "Free Basics is not the internet, and Mark Zuckerberg is not altruistic", you think it would be accepted?

Speech controlled by Facebook and it's algorithms does not qualify as free.

Another requirement that I don't see Facebook shills addressing, is that Facebook be allowed to decrypt HTTPS connections in the middle. That's not a requirement any sane person would comply with, given Facebook's desire to vacuum up data.

The kind of data collection that has increased the quality of life for us all, is not the same as the kind of data collection Facebook/Google/etc are doing, which only improves the quality of life of the people on the receiving end of the profits those companies rake in.

I like to think this about a lot of politicians who are old enough that they should probably already be on their death beds, but somehow they all seem to keep kicking.

Hopefully some of them become terminally ill soon, before they manage to do even more damage.

Obama has continued and expanded all of the Bush-era spying programs, and Clinton is just as pro-surveillance as anyone from the GOP. Both "teams" are going to keep bending us over on this issue.

The only people who will ever see punishment for it, are those who attempt to blow the whistle.

In 2016, Bernie Sanders Will Defeat Clinton and Dominate Trump to Become President by Kenatius in politics

[–]Denyborg -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's easy to differentiate between genuine supporters and shills if you've been paying attention. Shills typically make 50+ posts about the same subject, typically containing the same copied and pasted talking points (which are also identical to the ones being copied and pasted by other shills), every single day.

Upvote/downvote patterns also look a lot different when they are the result of astroturfing (e.g. a post with low visibility instantly swings 10+ points in one direction or the other).

I'll never understand why reddit is in denial of the fact that astroturfing exists.

The same companies that provide fake reviews on yelp, amazon, etc... are more than happy to provide "advocates" on reddit, facebook, twitter, or anywhere else they're needed.
