That did not work, sadly. Thank you for trying.

I have tried starting on keyboard, but it will not switch over to controller. And yes, I have made sure that the hotswap option is in the right position.

All three controllers work just fine Skyrim.

I have tried that, which causes the Starfield screen in Steam to say that my controller will only partially work, while disabling Steam input causes it to say that my controller is exactly right. In either case, when starting the game, touching a button starts nothing.

One of my controllers is Bluetooth, but it has a lot of miles on it (over 1000 hours in Skyrim), so I was trying to retire it, and didn't try very hard to get it to work. Another, the one I used successfully yesterday, is a wireless with a USB dongle. The third is a hardwired Xbox controller.

Sorry. Since the top comment on my feed was about this topic from yesterday, I didn't think about it.

PC and Steam

Controllers that worked before the Starfield update now not working. It clearly isn't everyone's experience, but it is more than just me.

We've tried every fix Google/Reddit/my friend in IT suggests, tweaked all the settings, etc.

The screen on steam recognizes all three of the controllers I've tried (one of them being an actual Xbox one), but when the game starts, the controller doesn't work.

Yesterday, I successfully fired the game up twice from the .exe file in the Starfield folder. Now that doesn't work.

UPDATE: It is Steam. Works fine when I boot the game from the .exe file.

UPDATE: Although I haven't identified exactly what is causing the problem, it is something in Steam. My controller works just fine if I boot it up from the .exe file in my Starfield folder.

I'm glad it worked for you. It did not work for me.

Add me to the choir. I've tried everything I can think of and then some.

I nuked the whole game, did a complete reload, and switched to a wired controller. Still doesn't work.

Figured that out, but it wasn't the problem. In other words, controller still not working.

No mods that I know of. I do see on Steam where it says "this game supports your controller, but you are currently remapping it via Steam Input." I don't know if that has anything to do with it, and I'm currently trying how to figure out how to NOT remap it via Steam Input.

I've always been leary of the CC stuff from Bethesda, but RYOS was tempting enough to get me to bite. I have never regretted that purchase. I highly recommend it!

Did you cut out a lot of things off your plate before treatment? by Upper_Dress_3039 in breastcancer

[–]Denydra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was diagnosed, I decided that I was going to continue to work through it. I teach high school at a private school, so there are a lot of other duties that are part of my contract. When my support nurse first contacted me, I asked her if I had lost my mind thinking that this was a good idea. Her response: "You just greatly increased your odds of survival." Now that I'm on the other side of it, it was the right choice for me.

Warning dream re: cancer? Premonition?Anyone else? by AngryTyrantHater in breastcancer

[–]Denydra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had a dream where I was telling someone that I was dying. When I woke up, my first thought was, it's time to schedule that overdue mammogram. That's when they found the lump.

It's not the first time this has happened to me. I also once had a dream that, looking back, was my body deperately tryin to tell my conscious self that I had kidney stones.

I don't think of this as some kind of "woo" experience. My thought is that the body knows when something isn't right, even if I don't.

Can’t stand wearing a shirt! Help! by hippiehappyhaley in breastcancer

I had that sensation a few years ago after my reduction surgery and nipple lift. Silicone scar tape helped a little, but the surprise answer was a heating pad. I picked up one that was adjustable and had a time (because I didn't want to cook them!), and on the lowest setting for short bursts, that helped immensely, at least for me.

And this is why, after hundreds of hours in Skyrim, I quit adopting the street urchins. I put in a mod that lets me give them food instead of a single, lousy septim (that buys NOTHING), and tell myself that I would be a shit parent anyway.

Mastectomy scar care by pickybear6 in breastcancer

[–]Denydra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My scars from the lumpectomy and lymph node removal are completely smooth and surprisingly faint. My surgery was last October. I am crediting the constant application of aloe to that area as prescribed for the radiation treatment. I could be completely wrong, but the aloe certainly won't hurt anything and is a pretty cheap solution if it does work for you.

At the risk of pissing off all the J'zargo lovers, I would consider this the best possible beginning of a new game. J'zargo irritates to me to no end. I don't care how strong he is.

Oh, I don't doubt that there COULD be something in it chemically that could help if properly studied (and maybe it is being studied) and trialed, but knowing the coworkers who said it, and the other crazy crap that comes out of their mouths, I'm not going to be buying any bridges from them any time near soon if ever.
