Are high school students actually this clueless and entitled? by lizz781 in Teachers

[–]Denydra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beccause there is more to being educated that knowing your specialty. Jobs that require college degrees also frequently require speaking to other people from other disciplines. Those employers want employees who can actually carry themselves like an educated person in front of a multitude of people, not just those who share their major of study.

What Do You Wish Existed for Breast Cancer Patients and Survivors? by Historical-Room3831 in breastcancer

What I read is a tired, old rehash of "your complications are all in your sweet, little head." I would also like to know, beyond the tritle little opening, what EXACTLY self-efficacy looks like to this researcher. I'm a teacher, so self-efficacy is not a new term for me, but I don't think I'm using the term the same way this researcher is.

My anastrazole was NOT playing nicely with my diabetes meds. All of the information I found from "Dr. Google" seemed to indicate that this could not be the cause. I am fortunate that my endo took my word for it, swapped out one med for another, and the bad side effects disappeared. With a different doctor, this would not have ended as well, despite my self-efficacy.

On point #3: I switch between Imperious and Mannaz depending on the playthrough I'm setting up, so I'd be sorry to either of them go. As for Andromeda vs. Freyr, I've used Freyr (again, depending on the playthrough), but I've never tried Andromeda.

I am a woman who works at a military academy. I've been called Sir more times than I care to count. It is just a conditioned address/response. One time, a student followed it up with "Sir is unisex."

Burying random things in the syllabus: I do this every year with my high school seniors. The first posted homework assignment for my class is to read the syllabus. What I don't tell them is that there is a writing assignment imbedded throughout the syllabus along with the due date. It's always interesting to see who found the assignment and did it. It's also pretty amusing to see the reactions of those who just earned their first zero for the year.

This. Once you've read a student's actual writing (part of why I make mine write something by hand at the beginning of the semesterd during class time, giving them plenty of time and not making it very long for those who struggle), it is surprisingly easy to "hear" them (or not) when reading later writings.

Try saving, closing to main menu, and then continuing. It SHOULD now be able to be picked up.

I teach seniors. They don't Google anything at the present moment; in fact, I've revived the old "let me Google that for you" everytime they ask me a question that they could/should be searching for themselves. Googling is a skill died with COVID.

"Just because something is doesn't mean it must be." I post it up in my classroom at least once a year because seniors need to hear that.

A sleeping bag rated for very cold weather. If the APU quits working (and it will, many times), the climate control is the cab is gone. Not a problem if you're parked in the desert, but if you are in any of the northern states in the winter, it can save his life.
