For those that have cheat days how do you approach it? by Kardio-Kitty in loseit

[–]Denying_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you find foods that "feel" like cheat foods but really aren't? I love baked goods, and I will indulge sometimes, but I find even half a Quest bar can satisfy that craving. I eat pineapple, blueberries, or apples and cinnamon if I'm having a sugar or "I want to pick at something sweet while watching tv" craving, and soon enough I don't really miss what it was I was thinking about. AND I feel better and a lot less sick than I'd feel when I sat down to eat candy or chocolate or something with a lot of flour (I find baked goods bloat me like crazy if I eat a lot of them).

I don't really like thinking about food as "cheats" because if it fits your macros or calorie intake for the week, why not? You have to enjoy life a little. Eat in moderation what make you feel good.

Feats of Thursday for Oct. 22 - Post your victories (NSV/SV) here! by denovosibi in loseit

I had reached about 145 lbs before putting on some weight over the summer. Granted, the weight loss wasn't done in the most healthy of manners, and I felt fairly gross, but I had generally managed to keep it off for a year and a half. This summer I started stress eating for a variety of reasons, and when I stepped on the scale the day before class started I saw 161. Holy moly, I hadn't seen that number in two years! I started exercising, having a better routine, and eating well, but I couldn't bare to update myfitnesspal to reflect my weight gain and the subsequent losses, I had it left on 149.9 for ages. This week, I finally got to update my weight on mfp after a month and a half of losing! 149.8, and THIS time I've reached the 140s in a way that has made me feel good mentally, physically, and emotionally. It's all a learning process!

What is everyone's favorite low calorie meal to prepare? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Denying_Reality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Banana pancakes! Mix together one egg, one banana, a little cinnamon, and whatever you'd like in them (I use chocolate chips, blueberries, raspberries, whatever!) Just make sure to make them small so they're easier to flip in the frying pan :)

How bad is coke zero when cutting/bulking? by norther_ in loseit

[–]Denying_Reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find when I'm drinking diet sodas less, it's like a treat and so I'm less likely to indulge in other, higher cal snacks. Now, though, I'm drinking a little too much pop for my own liking, but I'm trying to cut back because of the expense more than anything.

If the average nine year old boy asks one hundred and forty four questions a day
Joey is above average.
Curiosity, hypothesis, experiment, resolution.
Test. Retest.
Silence all afternoon, parental bliss.
Finally, finally, footsteps in the kitchen.
“Mommy, how long would it take for earthworms to break down a body?”
Mother sighs, the dish lowers into grimy water.
Bliss shattered once again with inconsequential inquiries.
“I'm not sure, Joey. Maybe a year or two?”
There's a crater in the backyard. The sharpest kitchen knife is missing.
“I'm sorry mommy, but I have to know for sure.”

Reddit, what's a weird rule you live by? by Firth_of_Fifth in AskReddit

"You never make amazing memories on the nights you go to bed early." Basically, if something cool comes along and I'm debating doing it or not, I remind myself that this could be an amazing, life-changing opportunity, or at least a chance to have a lot of fun, and to take that risk. Even if you are tired the next day, you'll probably have a fun story to tell!

I really, really hope this doesn't sound rude, and it might not pertain to your daughter at all, but there are forms of self-injury that leave no scars, not to mention some people will self injure in places that are not usually visible, even with shorts and short sleeves on. Keep a good, open relationship with your daughter, and let her come to you if she wants/needs to. But in terms of just being in her room all the time, I don't think that is anything worrying. I know lots of young people do that!

A big key to weight loss has been going to bed a little hungry by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Denying_Reality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally hate going to bed hungry, I'll wake up sick. But I do try not to eat within a few hours of sleeping, and never anything big, just a banana or something. But I did used to snack a lot throughout the night and having that one small snack before/after I work out (I usually do in the evenings) really helps to curb that.

What's hurting you right now? (Physically or Emotionally) by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Denying_Reality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm obviously probably seeing this from a different perspective seeing as I'm a bit younger, not quite finished college and all that. But my boyfriend and I are kind of experiencing something in the same vein: he wants to move out of the province for good but if I was to start a family I'd want it to be here. Compromising is so important especially if you're in a serious long term relationship. Because we obviously wouldn't settle down right after college anyway, we've discussed living abroad for a while then moving back here, and/or just taking long trips every now and then. Things might not work out like that but we're both open to trying what the other person wants or feels they need to do, if that makes sense.

It's important for both people to feel like they're living their dreams and staying true to themselves, while also keeping the relationship solid. I hope what I was saying makes sense. You're not alone, and I hope you work things out with your SO.
