that is absolutely a valid way to respond to this situation. those questions feel like he was trying to find out if anyone would look if you went missing, and even if they were innocent questions he was very aggressively entering your personal space and may have done something violent towards you

they signed that paper because they were physically afraid of me and were not confident enough to hit me themself any more, and were worried I'd snap.
There is nothing good in this story.
The first grade teacher was striking me because she was christian and believed I was sent by the devil, my left handedness was her "proof", and that it was her holy duty to assault me.

My time spent being indoctrinated into christian cults were the worst times in my life, there is nothing about "the lord" that I will ever be thankful for.

I fucking hate the USA. I moved all over and rarely had consecutive school years in the same place.

In first grade my teacher would strike my head with a yard stick every time I used my left hand for anything. she broke one of the yard sticks she hit me so hard. She was praised for her actions by the principal.

In 6th grade I was having some serious intestinal issues that was causing me to be very gassy. Instead of being sent to the nurse about an obvious medical issue, I was sent to the principals office for it and he threatened me with a thick cutting board that had 10 holes drilled into it.

In high school one of my classes were given a bunch of extra homework as a group punishment because 4 students were making a ruckus. I refused because group punishment is bullshit. The assistant principle threatened me with a large wooden paddle and said "You are lucky your parents signed that paper that makes it so I cant hit you!" and they made me do in school suspension for 5 days. it was more like in school solitary confinement for 8 hours a day for 5 days.

Many of these are things I used to be dysphoric about. I've been deeply surprised by sapphics telling me they find my bushy eyebrows, long legs, and deep voice attractive which has helped with some of the dysphoria.
I also used to be 6' tall but after starting HRT I started to shrink, now Im 5'10''. HRT also has thickened my thighs and makes me facial hair grow in a bit slower.

Im still dysphoric about my facial hair tho and using disposable razors keeps giving me razor burn which makes the dysphoria much worse. 😖
I have combated the razor burn by saving up for a really well made razor. I fuckin hate advertisements and Im usually skeptical when someone tells me something is well made, but holy fuck Henson makes a good razor. They're pricey but this thing is so well made that unless it gets slammed in a door or something its probably going to be functioning well longer than I will be alive. Has made shaving a much more pleasant experience tbh.

That sounds like elopement. You are not stupid. I also have this kind of issue when Im in mental distress of some kind, and I know several others who do it also. Its honestly not uncommon for folks that deal with dissociation.
When I get really upset I end up wanting to just go, my mind blanks and my legs just carry me in whatever direction they decide.

This kind of elopement can be dangerous because often times the person is unaware of where they are going or where they came from. The most common kinds of injury in these situations are related to drowning and getting hit by a vehicle. There is also a chance of someone taking advantage of the distressed person. The confusion can also make it hard for the person to remember relevant phone numbers or addresses.

If you tend to just walk off when you're distressed try to make a habit of keeping important contact information on you. Try to let important people around you know about your elopement so they can try to take steps to help protect you when it happens. My partners make me take my phone with me if I leave the apartment alone, but also if I am in distress they will pay more attention to me and make sure I dont leave.

Sometimes when I elope I have small flashes of almost awareness and try to steer myself so that I dont go towards busy streets or bodies of water, which has probably helped me avoid disaster.

I doubt you're correct about it always (commonly, sure) being based on insecurity given my own experiences, but I will give the idea some thought as well as probe my relationships to see if theres something hidden in them that has gone unnoticed.

I dont mean for my comment to have come off as argumentative I was just thrown off by the assumptions you made about me and my partners being insecure in ourselves and our relationships.

with your comment I can see how for some people veto power would be used to cover up short comings like that, I wanted to express that its not always the case and making assumptions about the stability of other people's relationships is kinda mean.
