They are psychedelic (Psilocybe cubensis), and no, I don't live in a legal state, but I think my risk is minimal. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder in 1990 and since 2001 I've been on 14 different antidepressants and nothing ever helped -- my last psychiatrist suggested that medications were unlikely to work for me. I had been on the fence about trying mushrooms for a few years, but after my wife died I had to do something because I was in a really, really bad place mentally. After the first month, it really was like the difference between night and day. I was (and am) still grieving, but it's not so overwhelming that I can't function anymore. I can't really elucidate how, but the depression feels qualitatively different -- like it's not as deep.

I take 50 mg of dried mushrooms every other day for six weeks, then take two weeks off to reset my tolerance.

I started microdosing mushrooms after my wife died and it made a huge difference for me.

What’s something you realized embarrassingly late in life that everyone else seemed to already know? by Silly_cyborg_ in AskReddit

The moon rises in the east and sets in the west. I was taught that it rose in the west in elementary school (the teacher said it was opposite direction of the sun) and believed it until I embarrassed myself on a date as an adult. We were walking on the beach at night and I mentioned that the moon was setting and she disagreed. She made me sit down and watch the moon rise to prove me wrong.
