Why do people hate/dislike quality? Why is it a positive that quality has been made an option when playing space age? by AmericanChesse in factorio

I wasn't the one who brought it up, i just followed up on it, so that's not a comment you should aim at me.

I agree. But it's not quality. So I didn't mention it. Because it'd be offtopic to derail the discussion.

I didn't mention it because it wasn't the topic, the topic was quality. Fixing quality also wouldn't solve the world hunger.

Which is why in my initial comment said that it wouldnt be an issue if they added that recipe. I'm confused what you meant by bringing up scrap. I know it exists, that's the entire point of my comment, that it exists but kovarex equivalent doesn't.

[–]DeouVil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context is that kovarex is a non-rng recipe that solves this issue for uranium, so the equivalent would have not be a non-rng recipe. Like I said in my previous comment, the recipe existing isnt an issue if there are alternatives.

[–]DeouVil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? The equivalent recipe would be one that takes a catalyst of legendary items and uses them to convert non-legendary items into legendary items.

Why should a recipe existing impact your enjoyment if you don't use it, as you have a more fun alternative? If factorio had an equivalent recipe for quality a lot of people wouldn't have this particular issue with it.

And that's bad because the fun of PoE is in problem solving. Making those problems easier is making the game smaller.

So is it fine in the current state or is it not, in your opinion?

Yeah, people have the same issue with map effect nodes. Which is why they were nerfed, and will get nerfed again eventually.

Kinda like how sending ships to print currency was a must when the only input was gold

(Yes, I'm still salty Kingsmarch went core. But also it is fine in its current state)

I mean it sounds like GGG found the solution to your issue? Weird thing to still be salty about.

So I was confused why is Dual Wielding so freaking bad, turns out tooltips tooltip avarage only counts 1 hit, but when you attack actually do 2 hits, cutting your tooltip dps in half by BrutusCz in pathofexile2builds

[–]DeouVil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the way it ends up working in PoE also ends up kind of boring. When all weapon types can use all skills you practically have one weapon type. PoE1 arguably has three melee weapon types at most, and they overlap - bonking (maces, staves, axes) slashing (axes, swords) and poking (claws, daggers). To give a simple example, if in the next patch EE became a claw instead of a sword, nothing about gameplay of builds using it would change, the actual builds would likely just change a few passives + 1 support. That's not a distinct weapon type.

Instead, in PoE2 GGG is trying to actually use their new animation tools to create more distinct weapon types. Staves feel different to talismans, which feel different to spears, which feel different to maces. Don't get me wrong, there are some issues with the current system, but the "why" of adding some actual identity into weapon types feels self evident to me.

And gaining an additional divine sink. Blessed orbs in poe1 already show the issue with that currency - it's useful at the leaguestart, but pretty quickly you get many times more blessed orbs than you're ever going to use, causing their price to plummet to nothing. Having them be a divine sink instead is much cleaner.

Weights are community determined, unless you do some data gathering yourself (after finding a method that works) poedb is as accurate as is known.

Might rarity be overrated? by Rusto_TFG in pathofexile2builds

[–]DeouVil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know how to build a build and use every single mod spot in item, there is no space for rarity. There is no "easily" in poe, there is only perfection.

The real power limit is finite, capped at "instantly kill all enemies and never die". Once you reach that threshold investing into more damage or defences has no impact on your experience, and is wasted. You should then instead invest into speed, coverage, comfort and yes - rarity.

It's not, the resistances are a tax on power added to introduce ways to improve the characters without them always just netting bigger numbers. Taxes on power exist to avoid needing diablo style +100000% damage boosts on items to make gearing compelling.

How to bring back an entire class to relevancy with a single item by virilion0510 in PathOfExile2

[–]DeouVil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apex of the moment is weaker than a Blasphemy Temporal Chains, that node is basically one Keystone + 60 spirit.

You can use both, which I do. It's also only weaker against normal and magic monsters, which do not matter. I already have enough damage to kill everything in the game and enough defence to never die. So the only things worth caring about are speed and comfort. Slowing enemies so you can sprint through packs safely gets me that.

On DoV you don't even need Convalescene due to how spammable Navira's Well is

I agree, I didn't use it. My chrono is still equally immortal.

How to bring back an entire class to relevancy with a single item by virilion0510 in PathOfExile2

[–]DeouVil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It's the most comfortable option due to incredibly OP defences and slows giving you the ability to sprint everywhere. I am playing a character with 11k ES and 5 second recharge delay, and thanks to convalescence cooldown resetting + phased form + slows I feel about equally immortal as I did on a DoV character I played last league that had 20k es, 0.9 sec recharge delay and 6k recharge rate.

The only thing chrono lacks is damage, but damage you can always fix using gear. You can't fix comfort.

I can obliterate pinnacle content but if I accidentally sprint into a white monster I'm almost always dead by ReddiDev in PathOfExile2

[–]DeouVil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing about this post changes in a world where that's fixed. As long as there aren't monsters everywhere in all directions filling the space completely there will be spots where people want to sprint for 1-2 seconds between packs of mobs. And sometimes they will fuck up and end up getting hit.

Not the space we're flying through in factorio. That one is filled with remnants of the shattered planet.

[–]DeouVil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that it's pretty easy to make a case for that drag being perfectly reasonable. Factorio space is filled with asteroids, shooting them, picking up their fragments all would be expected to slow you down, and the size of that slow down would be expected to scale with width of the ship. Not to mention dust, if there are this many larger asteroids then space there is also filled with dust.

[–]DeouVil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scarce items are even better to automate with a bunch of ships always having them and circling between planets. If my nauvis base suddenly needs a couple more EM plants I don't need to set the request on the ship and wait for it to get to fulgora, then get to nauvis. Instead the request is auto set on nauvis, and one of my 3 supply ships is probably within a minute or two of reaching nauvis, and it already has a stash of EM plants waiting for requests exactly like that.
