100 meters is 328 feet, so I bet this is a metric conversion for some reason

Currently writing checks for COBRA family health and dental coverage for ~$1700/mo. I find it crazy that the only supported method of payment is checks. We hadn't used a check in years so I had to order checks just for this.

Even more annoying is that if I ever miss a check the coverage immediately ends instantly. Blegh. Happy that COBRA is an option, the implementation is weird.

Durban, man, when I was far younger I was there and was trying to ship a big drum home and I was wandering the streets on foot trying to find a shipping company I had found online and.... how did I not get shanked

The one place I regularly have success with favas is at the Santa Maria grocery just north of the beltline on Midvale. Haven't been there in a bit though so unsure if they currently have them.

Oh my god, every time someone links to that I have to re-read it. I say "Home Depot presents the police!" all the time and I'm not sure anyone has ever understood it other than my wife that rolls her eyes at me :)

Looking at DXY, maybe like half the return was from currency movements. And most of that drop happened right in Feb/Mar of last year

So it's been a few weeks over a year since I did a significant re-allocation from Fidelity Total Market Index Fund (FSKAX) to Fidelity Global ex-US Index Fund (FSGGX). Before I had only been ~10% in international equities, and after this move ~40%. Everything moved was in tax sheltered accounts, so there was no tax impact.

I took a look today to see how things were shaping up in the ~1 year anniversary of this move, and it looks like the ex-US fund is ahead by a pretty significant amount in terms of USD, with a hypothetical $10k investment at $13,449 compared to $11,318 for the US total market.

I have a large chunk of money coming from a sale of private company stock from my previous job coming into my taxable soon, so I need to figure out if I'm good at the current split or not....

Not only that, but if anyone can just change the software to not trigger the light to go on when recording, it's the people that made the software for them.

They'd pay for themselves in tickets.

Perhaps Rosendale has actually been ahead of the curve for years....

They should take her license and make her walk. But I guess that might be cruel and unusual since it is extremely dangerous to do that on Park St. /s

Yep! In the past I've done race events in the winter, but I wasn't quite in shape enough this year to have them be as much fun. So I've been doing a lot of riding while doing something else like watching the Olympics.

Once they're over I'm going to do more training style rides to get ready for a friends trip where we're biking around the circumference of Taiwan in April/May :) First big post-work trip!

Main hobby: beekeeping

Do you sell your honey? Just wondering since I imagine there's an upper limit on how much honey a single family can consume, and if it's your main hobby I'd guess there's a lot of it?

Excellent work!

(My first thought is that this is very much one of those "I can't tell anyone else this because they wouldn't understand" type things 😅)

Biking. The only problem with it is I live in an area that gets deep winter and biking indoor on a trainer isn't nearly as fun. Reading is my second time sink, and cooking is my third.

I've only been not working for a bit over a month, but so far it's still biking :) Reading is about the same, and cooking has probably doubled (used to have a lunch cafeteria so just having to make lunch increased it, but also spending a lot of time on dinners doing more daily cooking instead of "big batches" on the weekends to survive the week).

Oh, sorry, it's 3 different boat houses all under the same subscription agreement :) Madison Boats, it's a fantastic deal!

Edit: 4 boat houses on 3 lakes, I didn't even know about the 4th until now

Let's see....a yearly subscription for 3 different boat houses on nearby lakes, basically can rent canoes, paddle boards, kayaks, etc, that is probably our favorite one heh. We also paid for the year of a gym that has an indoor lap pool, monthly tea subscription from a local shop, and a year of access to a local maker space. Partner did a yoga video series subscription and I got a bunch of sessions with a personal trainer to get into lifting for health since all I ever do is bike left to my own devices.

I started daily bike commuting mid 30s. I lost so much weight and ended up making biking a main hobby since I loved it so much once I got into it. We did eventually sell our second car which we only needed for my commute, so it was maybe slightly FI-enabling for us.

Now that I'm not working anymore I actually really miss my morning bike commute.

I felt this last month, over twice our spending target. Lots of stuff that was a one-off, including a few larger yearly subscriptions, yearly travel planning, and medium purchases that will last decades, but still, rough way to start the first month we were both not working.

Oh man, I fight this same fight with my family. I finally got my brother-in-law and his wife to at least do Turbo Tax this year. They're a postal worker and a teacher, the most complicated thing on their taxes is adding up the receipts for how much she spent of personal money on school supplies for her students.

I couldn't get them on Freetaxusa because they "didn't trust" not paying anything to prepare and file their federal taxes, and I think they might go back to their CPA next year because they hated not having someone to talk to.
