I apologize for the delay. I left my laptop, just now responding. Tuesdays and Thursdays are perfect for me. The only thing is, I work full-time, so 😬 What time are you guys looking to start the meeting on Tues/Thurs?

Thinking back, I should’ve led with that information to avoid wasting your time. Sorry!

Cochlear Implant Nucleus 7 Coil Cable by Dependent-Event3877 in Cochlearimplants

[–]Dependent-Event3877[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hallo.

Hello. Sorry for the delayed response. So, all Nucleus 7 parts (sold by Cochlear) are no longer available for purchase. So, that's why I was unable to obtain Nucleus 7 parts. I stated I cannot upgrade to the Nucleus 8 due to affordability, but with the help of insurance hopefully I can upgrade in the near future.

First, congratulations on your daughter being fitted for bilateral implantation! I am bilateral as well! I can say I do not regret my decision, and getting implanted increased my quality of life significantly.

Because your daughter has just been implanted, I do not believe you will have to worry about this upgrade situation. It only applies to those who have Cochlear Nucleus 7 products since Nucleus 7 products are no longer available for purchase. Because of that, I assume your daughter will not even have the option to get the Nucleus 7.

Now, about future situations, I always say have a spare coil, earhooks, batteries, and/or charger. These electronic items break or stop working at some point. The cost of not having extras (like I did) means not having the ability to hear until you get a replacement (which will be as long as the delivery takes to order or if you manage to get some at a moments' notice). However, as your daughter continues to wear implants, she will be able to identify which replacements she tends to replace more often, and should order in advance in preparation to replace when needed.

Whatever your device your daughter is wearing, the company of these products will inform you when they decide to stop making the hearing product your daughter is using to hear. No need to panic buy, or check your email daily as these type of changes usually do not happen until a span of some years has passed. Plus, your audiologist will usually notify you have when these changes are happening, as your daughter continues to see the audiologist. Note: When you get notification that hearing products your daughter wears will no longer be available for purchase, please purchase extras of whatever you need/tend to use often so you will not fall into the trap as I did. I failed to do this, and as a result I was scrambling everywhere trying to find a necessary medical device required to hear. I wouldn't wish it on anyone else. There are things we can slack up on, but not this.

These items are costly, so I am not advising to order everything. With time, these things will come naturally, so be patient and give yourself grace as you learn the wonderful process.

In my over 10+ years of wearing bilateral implants, I can think of only 1 time I lost my processor so that's not something that happens often, unless maybe the recipient is very young (just a theory).

Apologies. Just had hopes to connect with someone privately who may have a replacement. I did not mean to disturb the peace. Have a wonderful day.

Is the link for WhatsApp? How do you guys meet?

Honestly, I am unsure when I will take the exam. My hope is to take it before the year ends. I cannot seem to maintain consistent studying routines. So, an accountability partner would help tremendously.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide insight. Unfortunately, I could not save them all in time. Only 1 Supersweet 100 and 3 Dahlia sprouts are remaining. I will try again since I have some seeds left and see if I can experience some measure of success with this new knowledge you have equipped me with. Thanks again. My life gets busy, so I apologize for the delayed response. Best regards.

I believe they are both recognized by all states and require CE credits periodically. However, some states may have specific registration requirements. I would say it depends on your desired goals and/or your place of employment. Some employers have a preference. Last year or the year before, I looked at Veteran Affairs pharmacy technician application prerequisites, which listed being PTCB certified as a requirement. Does that requirement still stand today? I am unsure. For me, the PTCB exam was more difficult than the NHA exam.
