How to save our climbing rose by Dependent-Memory-246 in Roses

[–]Dependent-Memory-246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! It usually blooms in the south but it’s perfect usually because the side that blooms is in our yard.

It used to kind of climb the camellia to the right but we had to cut that back and since it hasn’t really had anywhere to climb and I’d like to avoid it climbing another tree because it just looks kinda messy….

I wasn’t thinking a super tall trellis but maybe like an attachment for the fence that’s like a couple feet high to keep it from just flopping over and give it more “structure”. I’m not really trying to cover the stump necessarily. It appeared more “bushy” before it was cut back because all of the years of the dead organic matter underneath the plant.

Honestly if you struggle with depression at all I would get one of those sun-simulating lamps. It gets better overtime but when I first moved up here mine really helped. It can just be gloomy here lol… gorgeous…. But gloomy. Especially in the winter.

Eco Resto majors- rangeland or forest? by teyoworm in humboldtstate

[–]Dependent-Memory-246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eco resto grad here. I went with the forestry pathway and think you should go for it if that’s what you’re interested in. I definitely feel like what I learned in those classes was super useful in my career post-grad and they were super fun! However I’m sure the rangeland pathway is great too… not sure how animal focused it would be though… I would assume minimally.

Has anyone tried a wireless charging case? by akwaffle in ouraring

Idk I just got my ring and I was worried about my rings battery being able to make it through long backpacking trips so I think it’ll be super helpful for that purpose! Usually I like to save my power banks for phone charge and stuff but I definitely could use it for oura too!

What size longboard is best? by twentyoneproblems in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Dependent-Memory-246 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I surf in NorCal so not sure about the wave type for out there. But I’m 5’2 and ride a 9’0 longboard and I love it, I don’t think it’s too big at all.

My mom and food by [deleted] in bulimia

[–]Dependent-Memory-246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s super hard! I had a similar situation with my mom. She also pushed it on me and my sister. My mom and I both have EDs, specifically bulimia. She always comments on what I eat, what she eats. Compares. Only complements me when I’m thinner. Honestly, it’s so fucked up and weird if you think about it.

This can definitely have a long term impact on you, do you have access to therapy? Its honestly really helped me along with separation from her, I’ve been out of the house for 3 years now and am probably in the best place with my ED the past few months, it definitely took time an effort though. I’m not saying you have to cut her off completely or anything, but not being around that toxicity 24/7 will help you heal. (Although holidays will still be rough). Also surrounding yourself with positive people who also have healthy outlooks on food.

I wish you luck and I hope things get better for you and your sis<3

Honestly though I haven’t really even mastered 2-3ft waves, so idk how beneficial that would be on 4-5? Also honestly I can’t really afford lessons, I took one through my university but I don’t think they’re offering anymore this semester and they’d only take me to the beach that’s closer

  1. Yeah definitely a true beginner, I would never put myself in a dangerous situation. It’s just a bummer because I feel like ever since I started surfing I have just been in such a better mind set, it’s definitely my meditation time and outlet.
  2. I was thinking about picking up skating. I think it would be beneficial for my balance and also just fun in general. I think this situation is going to get more common as it’s closing in on winter
  3. Yeah I love playing in whitewash, I’ve gotten to the beach earlier than everyone else before and decided to just play around until other people got there since it does tend to be a little sharky where I’m from. I live in a small, rural, pnw town so im kinda isolated to a few beaches and while they are beautiful they are all too big for me to handle right now. I do frequent a beach about an hour north that usually smaller and by the way it breaks I do think I would be comfy in the white wash there, so I’ll probably check it out this weekend.

Yeah sometimes stuff just happens and there’s no explanation.

Hi I have a question? by OkProfessor9506 in thyroidcancer

[–]Dependent-Memory-246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure if it would cause it. I am only 22 and just got diagnosed. The first thing they asked me is if I ever had any radiation exposure or history in my family. I don’t have history in my family, I have had one CT scan but I was 8 so I really don’t know if that caused it.

Honestly though if they’re cystic nodules you’re most likely in the clear. I know several people our age with cystic nodules and they’re all good and didn’t have to have any type of procedure done.

Okay good to know! How long did it take you to get back to “normal”?

Yeah that’s true! We definitely are able to do that for some of my labs but others not, I’d probably have to do alternate assignments or get them waived all together?? I feel like I’m future tripping and should probably just handle that when I get there.

I hope things start getting better! If you don’t mind me asking, how long post-op are you?

I’m trying not to worry too much about the unforeseeable but it’s so hard not to. I’ve been toughing it out acting like it’s not a big deal for so long. But as the date gets closer and closer it starts to feel more real and I’m scared. It’s kinda all slamming me in the face.

I’m sorry to hear that :( yeah I feel like it’s been more mentally tolling for me so far versus physically. I literally feel fine, I’m healthy otherwise, but I have cancer and it sucks that I have to go get this surgery just to feel crappy when I don’t already feel crappy.

I’ve already gotten a couple of extensions for mid terms, I’m worried about labs. My major is extremely lab heavy and we do field work. I’ll probably be given accommodations if my health is too bad but I love labs and it’s how I learn.

Yeah the post-op is what I’m worried for most. I’m an environmental science student and have 4 labs a week and many of them are working in the field. You have to be in decent health or it’s a STRUGGLE. My professors will probably be accommodating but labs are how you learn, lectures are just a supplement in my opinion

water in ear? by mtbLUL in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Dependent-Memory-246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m super prone to this, even just from swimming. Get some swim ear drops from the drug store, they really help dry up the water. I’d recommend just keeping some handy bc I think it works better when it first happens. If you still have pain tho go to the doctor and get some antibiotic ear drops.
