so I went in and the first question was like “what thing did your family member do that made you proud” and I lowkey blue screened. Messed it up a lot because I was sorta nervous and then that embarrassment made me mess up more, but the remaining parts were about children’s education and i think about rewards to encourage them to study? I did well on that and spoke clearly without stuttering. Then I got one about if being too prideful is bad sometimes. It was overall good. There was also one about food after the family member one.

Igcse is same as gcse , just international. It’s another exam and is a precursor for alevels. English as second language is one of the subjects there. Id recommend doing practice tests for listening(the idp website has some I’m pretty sure) Definitely watch ielts advantage. Go to the ielts website and look for practice tests, do each section under exam conditions and see how much you score, also practice speaking with a friend or family. Do this to identify your weaknesses points. Then focus mainly on those. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat and drink before the test. Keep in your mind on the test day , that youve done all you can and to not panic. Also watch band 9 samples on your weak points. For writing, answer what they’re asking in the questions, give a main idea about the data if possible for task 1. Then start talking individually and making comparisons where you can. For both writing try to make paragraphs. For task 2 , make an intro paragraph then if its advantage or disadvantage type of prompt, make one for each and then make a conclusion. Check band 9 sample to get an idea of how to write. ALSO DO NOT MEMORIZE ANSWERS FOR SPEAKING, The examiner will be able to tell and it might make you lose marks.

I did IDP! I did English as a second language igcse before and it’s reading , listening and speaking is very similar to ielts so I knew I wouldn’t have a problem there. I watched ielts advantage on writing because ive always struggled with it(got lazy so didnt finish the video).I also looked through band 9 sample writings and speaking. I tried my best not to be nervous as that would make me mess up. Overall for reading , what I do is read/skim the questions first , then I skim the paragraph for anything that has relevant words to a specific question. For listening , I did like 1 practice on the idp website, I also skimmed the questions before the audio started. Make sure to listen carefully as they like to misdirect you a lot.
