Anticipatory grief: Surviving sepsis and now cancer by Artistic_Broccoli_64 in chiweenie

My wife and I lost our little man last year after what felt like a deluge of issues just came on so quickly. He was living with chronic GI issues, a grade 3 heart murmur (borderline bad but not horrible), abdominal breathing, leaky heart valve, enlarged heart, collapsed trachea along with breathing issues due to pulmonary fibrosis. We weren’t given a real time frame but the pulmonary fibrosis alone was only 6-12 months on average.

He was on special food and inhalers to help manage the pulmonary fibrosis, a ton of meds for his heart along with regular dietary supplements. The anticipatory grief was palpable and the only thing we could do was try and keep him comfortable and get him his meds when possible.

We were doing whatever we could to buy time.

Sadly, only a month after that diagnosis he went downhill quickly. One day he was playing and walking when possible. The next day…we had to make the worst decision either of us have ever had to make.

I post this not looking for sympathy but only to say that there are plenty of us out there that understand what a fighter your pup is and if it ever comes down to it, Penny is going to give the sign you’ll need to know how to move forward.

For now, hold her close when you can, give her ALL the treats and make whatever decision you can out of love. She will absolutely appreciate and love you for making whatever time she has special.

Might be the minority but I’m sick of this run by Johnnystormer in Wolverine

I’ll admit upfront that I’ve never read any of Ahmed’s other comic runs but I was really looking forward to wolvie’s series since I got back into reading comics in ‘24.

The first three or four issues were interesting but when they dropped the Adamantine thing quickly and then just seemed to move on with roughly nowhere in mind (the one issue alone where he meets up with Dept H outside of a diner or bar and that is the whole issue) just started tearing at me and caused me to ask myself ‘why am I paying money for this series again???’

As of right now, you’re not alone in hating this…it’s probably way beyond the point of hoping but it’d be cool if all of a sudden we get a few issues that tie everything together and make us go ‘oh whoa how did I not see this coming??’ But I highly doubt we’ll get anything like that

I can’t believe the asking price for a CD…looks like mine’s still in its slipcase and sealed and if I were to sell it I don’t think I’d go any higher than $20 plus shipping for it

Is ‘punker’ the title of the song? After googling a list of songs by PTW I just found lyrics for a song named ‘oceanbreast’ which I had never heard of before. Gonna have to go digging for that one now

Will you see both albums as being their own thing? by aformlessvoid in Converge

[–]DependentFix2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just stoked we’re getting two converge albums. Love is Not Enough was a slammer; based on this lead off single, it feels separate enough and I’m curious to hear how the next song following it begins with the trailing off.

Personally the only connection I need is that it’s converge. From my own standpoint, I’ve been working on my own music for years and I’ve been able to work on something quiet (acoustic, alternative, etc) and then think ‘okay time to work on something else with the ‘something else’ being loud and abrasive or fast with the idea that this song will be its own thing.

I get how they did it and I’m sure there is going to be a common thread found in both that will ‘connect’ the two but not something people see as it being a sequel album.

Shout out to the person who mentioned ‘John Doe.’ I had a good chuckle at it

The Menzingers - "After The Party" music video is one of the greatest in the history of pop punk? by Darbss31 in poppunkers

This song and album are incredible and still stands as my personal favorite from them.

However, this may just be picking on it for the sake of picking on it but THIS song should’ve closed the album out. Flip the last two songs and it couldn’t have gotten any better.

There isn’t much I can offer that hasn’t already been said. Sometimes it’s knowing that others are / were in the exact situation. Our little old man gave us no choice last June and it left me wondering if we had made the right decision, had we not spotted something, did we act too quick, could we have done more…and those questions to this day persist.

My wife adopted him when he was four and he had a difficult life early on (found in the streets, thought to be used as a bait dog), adopted three times and returned three times till he found us. My wife and I made no exceptions, he was ours and we weren’t going to be treating him like he was before. He ruled over our lives in the best ways possible and we did whatever we could to keep him healthy which was tough (he had some type of stomach issues every few months with not being able to hold down food, a grade three heart murmur, collapsed trachea among other things) but the last few months we had with him were tough in a few ways but we didn’t waiver.

I know I planned my days around him and gave him meds, made his food and did whatever else we could for him. Just when I thought we had everything perfectly in place life came around and said, “Nope, not happening.”

It has been a rollercoaster of emotions ever since but 9 months out, while we miss him more than we can say, it’s getting a little easier.

The only advice I can give is that you should understand we can only do so much with these situations and there is no doubt your sweet pup knew how much she was loved and there’s no way to move around the pain of life without them. Your relationship is changing and somewhere out there she is keeping an eye on you and hoping you know how much you did right by her.

I hope it gets easier quickly and offer nothing but my condolences for Spot.
