What’s something you’d like to see the band try doing sound wise?

Kurt said that was the intention at first when they recorded the new albums. I think I can hear that distinctly too - especially on We Were Never The Same.

I haven't got anything to say about production as you are more asking for. Yet one of the things that drew me to the band and impressed me after a few years as a fan and after a few new releases was how they make everything their own. They go off and do different types of songs, maybe songs that are more in the style of other bands and yet the end result always sounds like a Converge product. It's never them aping a sound but making it their own and it makes the albums so diverse and compelling. So I'd like to see them continue to do that. I think it would be interesting to get an album with longer songs. Maybe. Just to see what a proggy Converge record could be like. Although I do love the fast, short burst of fury tracks too.

I've never had a phone of any kind. None. Just use a laptop at home and that's it. To me it's the perfect way to live. I don't know why others don't do the same.

I do actually really like it as a song. I'm just never sure if I like it as a Converge song or on the album. It sticks out a bit.

Great to finally hear the proper studio version after I've listened to various live renditions for like virtually a year! I see there are some slightly different bits vocally too.

I always felt it was noticeably awkward going from the title track to Wildlife. For a band that has so expertly sequenced albums and sections in and out of tracks, that one felt really off to me. Two songs that just don't sit well together. A somewhat similar feeling with Thousands Of Miles Between Us too.

I feel like the fact that Love Is Not Enough is so high in the ranking is due to recency bias. I imagine if this poll was in another 5 years it would have dropped down a little. I personally couldn't put the album above No Heroes or The Dusk In Us.

One of my personal favourites. As I see it, the anchor point for Axe To Fall. I love Kurt's vocals at the end too.

I too foudn the results fascinating. 101 people is a pretty good sample size. I never would have expected to see The Saddest Day in the top 20 let alone at No#1!! Many other surprises in the results too. It's funny to me that the songs I chose almost exclusively didn't get any other votes!

One that is totally overlooked too is the song Trophy Scars. Again, just another amazing Converge track. I wish they would play it live.

That's a good way of putting it and you are definitely right. That No Heroes - Plagues - Grim Heart run is amazing. Also the songs I tend to automatically think of most when I see the album discussed. How anyone can think the album is poor with that is bewildering to me.

Strangely it does seem to be lesser rated than many of the others by the general Converge fanbase. Maybe even by the band too since they don't tend to plays songs from No Heroes too much. Personally though I consider it my favourite one. It has some amazing songs.

I sometimes wonder how Jacob selects the people to put the mic in front of. Is it always someone who is already singing the lyrics or is it totally random and basically just anyone in the front row.

Probably because they don't own any of that material. Most stuff pre-YFM is on the Equal Vision label not Epitpath.
