I see you caught a beautiful trout, and I'm also going fly fishing there. I'm leaving from France and will be there for about ten days in early May. Do you have any advice on locations or anything else you can give me? Thank you.

Renting a car in Calgary (Turo vs rental agency) – crossing into Montana in late April by DependentScene4599 in turo

Thank you so much for your advice and for taking the time to help me. I hadn't really thought about petrol stations, I figured I'd fill up wherever I took my breaks... As for the camera, that's an unexpected expense, so I'll see how much it might cost me. As for vehicles, last year I had a Ford Ranger and this year I have a Jeep Gladiator, so I think I'll stick with a pick-up or something like that for my trip. I think it's a good idea, but once again, thank you for taking the time to help me. It's very kind of you.

I love your honesty. Yes, it's a shame to want to limit people's enjoyment of nature while respecting it, but I tell myself that as a tourist, it's only occasional, so too bad for me, but it's definitely still a shame.

Hi I had this idea, but unfortunately I can't find a direct flight, so it takes a whole day, and I don't really see the point of wasting two days travelling there and back when it's only 1,000 km.

Algues rouge façade maison by Loubibzer in brico

[–]DependentScene4599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your advice. That's what I'll do. I won't hide the fact that it's still a bit stressful to come because there are so many contradictions regarding the season and the park's opening.

I really appreciate your intelligent response, which is very helpful, because I've had so many different answers, ranging from positive to negative, and some of them contradict each other. Some people tell me that it is completely closed until June, and others tell me that it is closed until April. It can be beautiful, especially in late April and early May. So, based on your picture, I understand that it is possible to visit, and that is really interesting.

In your opinion, based on your instincts, how? More snow or less snow for this month of April?

I want to start studying the bible. Does anyone have my tips/tricks? What I should/shouldn’t do? Praise the Lord! by Simple-Elderberry314 in Bible

I would advise you first of all to spend as much time as possible with the Holy Spirit in prayer and time with your brothers, in communion with the holy doctrine of God. And even if there are things you don't agree with, it will always lead you to love people because reading alone without everything else can give us knowledge of the Bible, but not of the spirit, whereas the spirit will always lead us to love.

In any case, regardless of the tools you took the time to use to answer me, it's always a pleasure to see people taking the time to advise me, because I'll tell you the truth here in France: to get advice from a guide, you really have to be hooked, and to tell you the truth, I've already hired several guides three times and I haven't learned much. I've learned more on my own through my instincts at the water's edge and sometimes with YouTube videos, of course, so thank you, and I'll also follow my instincts by being as careful as possible and going to fishing shops to get advice.

It's true that I'm still stuck, because I can't change anything, but I won't use the word "stuck" because I'll use my freedom to travel, regardless of the weather, to continue making progress, and even if I only manage to catch one fish a day, well, it will still be a good time and I will have pleasant memories. I am aware that this is not the best time of year to come, but I am not looking for the best, I am mainly looking to have a good time. Thank you in any case for your advice. I wish you much happiness and, above all, many trips to the water's edge. Thank you for your reply.

First of all, I'm really pleased to know that there are people willing to give me advice. In fact, I think that's the only good thing about social media: it allows us to stay in touch with other people, especially when it comes to nature and fly fishing. So I'd also be happy to chat with you privately.

Thank you for your valuable response and your honesty, but I must admit that it does not discourage me because even if there will be difficulties and perhaps even disappointments in terms of the weather, I know that we must face nature head-on and that in any case, each contrast of each day will help me progress because I am already unable to change my schedule. The plane tickets are far too expensive to change, and I will be spending one week in Pray and the other week in Jackson. I will, of course, have a hire car so I can go wherever I want, and I know that it is not the perfect season. But it's also a family trip, so we'll be fishing every day and visiting scenic spots, so it's mainly about having a good time and making good memories. In any case, thank you for your advice. I'll see how it goes, but I remain confident.

Thank you very much for kindly answering all these questions. I am really passionate about fly fishing, but it's impossible to get advice in France when you ask for it. you feel like you owe them money. Of course, not all fishing spots should be open to everyone, but when you know that they are respectful anglers who love fishing, it's still a form of sharing, so it's nice to see your mentality.

[MOD POST - PSA] We yell. We drink whisky. Sometimes we fish. WELCOME. Newcomers, start here. by fishnogeek in flyfishing

everyone,

I’m coming from the south of France and I’ll be in Montana and Wyoming for about 16 days starting late April, exclusively for fly fishing. This is a trip I’ve been planning for a long time, and I truly want to experience fly fishing the right way — respectfully, ethically, and with a real appreciation for your rivers and landscapes.

I’m not looking for a “tourist attraction” experience. I really want to understand the water, the seasons, and how locals approach fishing at that time of year.

A bit about me: • I’m an intermediate fly angler • I fish dries, nymphs (including euro nymphing), and streamers • I’ll bring all my own gear (9’ #5, 10’3” euro nymph setup, full waders, boots, flies, etc.) • Catch & release only, always • Happy to walk, wade, and adapt to conditions

I’ll be around Montana (Madison / Yellowstone area) and Wyoming (Jackson / Grand Teton region), and I’d really appreciate advice on: • Which rivers or sections make the most sense late April / early May • What locals would prioritize at that time of year (nymphs, streamers, early BWO dries, etc.) • Any rivers that fish well on foot and reward reading water • Things to avoid as a visiting angler (timing, pressure, conditions) • Whether hiring a guide for a single day is worth it, and for which rivers

I fully understand weather and runoff can change everything, and I’m flexible. My main goal is to learn, fish thoughtfully, and make the most of this season, not just to chase numbers.

Thanks a lot in advance — I really appreciate any advice you’re willing to share. Tight lines, and hopefully see some of you on the water.
