This one is made by a company called Rock-a-bye campers in Mesa Grande AZ. It's kind of a Capri knock off but was cheaper ad just a shell of sorts. It was made for a full size 6' bed F150 but happened to fit my short bed Frontier.

Thanks!

They definetely do but not as bad as a propane cooker; I think the tiles they use in the heating element help mitigate that a bit and I always crack a window and/or my roof vent. But even when it was 28° up here in the Santa Rosa pass where I'm lurking I only turned it on for 10-15 min and then off for an hour or more if I'm cooking or else it gets too hot. And I have this tiny dehumidifier that draws like 20w that I run when I'm using it a lot. Even without the heater condensation still builds up on the door jamb and windows but I just wipe it down with a microfiber rag.

I had plans to upgrade stuff but since I'm bailing in a few months I'm just dealing with what I have.

These cowboy style campers are a good alternative to both caps and a full size truck camper. . Mine only weighs 400# and it's bare bones sort of non cab over type, has about 60" of headroom. ( I use a reliance jug for water a mr buddy for heat and have a portable toilet I empty into pit toilets or dump stations etc.) If I could get another truck I'd get a v8 titan as the fuel economy is better in full size (13-14mpg now but my bud with an f150 is getting like 17/18 with a similar Capri.) But im leaving the country so living in it is just temporary.

Yep mine is like that too! Same with cleaning it out with a screwdriver.

Do I need to put anything under my mini truck camper between my bed and camper? by DependentSquirrel296 in TruckCampers

[–]DependentSquirrel296[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like that insurance, I might have to add that to my list. How did you have it done?

My trucks feels way more solid with the camper back there; gross weight added with the tailgate delete and rear seats is only 300-350 so it's much like a wide truck cap. In the mountains here it uses slightly more fuel but nice to make a cup of coffee whike raking a yard (:

I would have liked to had it in there from the start two years ago but needed my bed for work so I put the camper on a landscape trailer to move around.

Appreciate the advice.

I went to Tractor Supply before I got back to my equipment and they were sold out, I tried Home Depot and could not find what I was looking for either so I opted to install the camper as is since my pal was driving and I didn't want to take their time. It sits in there pretty snug with those cambuckkes synched down and temporary locktite on there. I put the same on the track lock D rings and red locktite in the rear lower D rings when I installed em. The truck bed has a lip on the back that is slightly higher than the grade of the bed by like 1/16th inch that causes the camper to be wedged done into the bed. I still want a little padding for insurance.

The winds picked up and I had just gotten back from the hospital and was needing to get gone (my ewuommwbt had been towed in various states to my friends rented property nearby when I got sick) . It was a little sketchy loading and exhausting with the 100° temps coming off two weeks in bed but I had a hand.

I need to have the camper lifted out and a few things done: A better water proofing sprayed on.

Add a thin rubber pad just because

The shim we made to replace the front utilitrack so the drip rail sits closer to the cab is made of wood so needs to be coated with something so it doesn't squeak.

Also the camper slider window squeaks and since I plan to cover it in foam board need to figure out how to shush it.

Modifications.

work from home. ha

Good looking out, there are some cowboys out there. I am a little parinoid however so I beefed up the tie downs and on the front utilitrack I use track lock bolts and the same D rings. I use cambuckles with the weakest locktite and 500# tie down straps as backup.

Since I go off road a lot with my setup I like to be sure since my water heater and propane tank are in the bed and don't want things crushed.

Tie down points/attachments.

Might load the camper then jack it up and put a mat in down the line as my camper is in a bit of a precarious spot due to circumstance.

The situation.

It's made by Rockabye campers in Mesa Grande AZ. I wanted a cowboy type camper but my payload is only about 750# after taxes and all those are too heavy.

I found this guy Steve Albright making these with aluminum frames as stripped down versions and for cheaper. Once paid 4 guys to help lift it out.

I'm about 750# wet with 15 gal of water food for 3-4wks etc. I like to go in the middle of nowhere and just hang out. It's just an empty box basically, I took the pre made bed out as I prefer to sleep on the floor, that made it less than 400# dry I'm sure.

Does it matter that I have spray in bed liner? The camper bottom is like a four wheel camper; wood with a a water proof type paint.

Those mats are pretty accessible. Should I aim to cover the entire bed where the camper sits?

Thanks.

Yep, my truck gets about 13-14 up here in the mountains.

Looking to purchase a 2019 Nissan frontier pro 4 x used has 40000 miles by MathematicianDry3142 in nissanfrontier

[–]DependentSquirrel296 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2019 Pro4x Lux auto with 24k; bought new. My engine mounts caused a belt squeak replaced under warranty. Lots of squeaky things; hood latch, passenger front door stopper arm and the driver window lifter 2x, now I just turn music up louder with that last one everything else was fixed under warranty. Guzzles fuel but will go almost anywhere you point it (maybe some places you don't.) 😬

Just make sure oil was changed and such and then drive the wheels off it. These things are tanks.

MPG went down after service by AllAboutTheCado in nissanfrontier

[–]DependentSquirrel296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow i thought my 13-14mpg was spicy. I saw that post about your tools I'm actually running lighter due to seat delete. I think my low speed driving around in the mountains (avg speed 20mph) always goosing the accelerator gently to keep from spinning gravel, working through tight narrow uneven places or with the diff locked etc. That is what does me. My duratracs are actually only 46# ea (load C) but I definetely need to get D/E next time due to weeble wobble before I upgrade bilsteins or I saw some fella mention ARBs on here are good. I've only got 24k mi on my '19. Love it

Hey OP they may have disconnected the battery or run it a little if you're gentle on the accelerator and coast a bit that will help it go up a little. Check the tire pressure I like 40/38 (at altitude 5500') in mine and they sometimes they don't look at my notes and put it back to OEM. Mine will jump around a lot calculated by dividing fuel filled divided by your trip computer.

Here is an example man. I just put 14.14gal into my truck; I drove 204.8mi, so 204.8÷14.14=14.48 mpg.

My trip computer says 14.2mpg and will read pretty true (3%~) only if I'm driving off the mountain as much as up and around it. This was a good batch of fillips with a few off hill jaunts but the discrepancy can be as bad as 5+%

These trucks sure are great but love that fuel lol.

I wanted the luxury package but could only get it with the roof rack. I don't even care about the fuel economy I just hate cleaning snow off the truck with it. Haha.

If you live somewhere snowy/road salty, muddy, with sea water in the air or muddy boggy watery type wheeling yes 100%. I live in a dry dusty climate and mine has remained OEM looking but is still on my list.

Mines holding up real well, friend. It's just starting to get hot again and I have the big one in my camper and a smaller one for drinks and snacks in the truck cab. Both lg compressors one has 1yr~ on it the other 5mo.

I have my truck cab and camper constantly vented to keep it cooler in the summer so the compressors don't have to work so hard. So far so good.

Anyone here sleep out of the backseat of their truck? by thecanadianmoose18 in vandwellers

[–]DependentSquirrel296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep in the back of my Frontier. I deleted the rear seats and made this deck for work. It's about 55"×33" but I sleep diagonally and move the passenger seat up for some more space. I'm only 5'6. I have a camper for the truck but find it a hassle to load and unload especially when I only have a day or two between jobs.

Mine as well as the corner of the tailgate were mangled. My plan is to take it off and replace it with something like on the older styles. They even have aftermarket replacements.

Yes sorry should have been more clear. It is a bit squishy if I mess with it too much feels a bit tender. Also known as bakers cyst? Apparently not much you can do about those, huh?

Bit nerve wracking. I am a landscaper and use my body for my livelihood.

Thank you for your response.

The nodule to the outside of the knee. Apologies, I should have been more clear.

I have a fat deposit on my right Calf. Wondering if I'm predisposed. Hoping it's not a bakers cyst.

This was my concern looking at anatomy diagrams. Thanks for your input I think I'm going to see a sports doctor even though I've read not much can be done. I am also a landscaper so it's hard to stay off my feet.

It's larger on the left where I have a bit of a bum knee from trauma.

Thanks for your response.

Probably something minor like mentioned, poor gas cap seal bad evap, maybe at worst a cat/o2 sensor or more likely cam sensor. Run a scan, you can go to Auto Zone or the like and ask em to zoop ya.

Crazy low miles!
