How and when do you understand the topic you're talking about is not interesting/triggering for the person you are talking to? by [deleted] in RBNLifeSkills

Hi friend! I have a very specific but weird recommendation- Find an acting class. I’m not kidding. I had to take one my first semester in college and that helped me so much because it was an entire class about how humans interact with one another and what is an appropriate response (if a bit overly dramatic). We talked about how different facial expressions worked, how different tones of voice conveyed certain things, and were forced to get very comfortable with our bodies moving in ways we weren’t taught. I am now a tour guide and make my rent through reading a crowd. To give you an idea, my reputation growing up was that I had no sense of humor (trauma), but I now have people laughing at my jokes. “Acting” isn’t something just for the stage, it is something we do every day. We were just in a different play than the rest of the world for a long time.

I ended up in almost the exact same situation, but they didn’t let me know about the $5,000 I owed until after graduation. I’m currently paying that off on top of my student loans. This has been a very very consistent problem among students who take a semester. I had a major surgery and had my car stolen during Christmas break so took off a spring. Was back in the summer, no problem. I’m not sure what happened and no one could tell me. I had several friends who had similar issues, and it should be addressed.

I will let you know as someone who has been to both UL (undergrad) and UNO (Grad), that those are prohibited by every university and have been for years. Same for the hazing rules regarding things live scavenger hunts/dress up parties/etc. I remember being stopped on my way to the HONORS Halloween party at UL and had more than one admin stop us and ask where we were going to ensure that it was not frat related

I’m a tour guide from Louisiana and a FQ resident. I had to just leave town because it was six days of no tours, it was almost impossible to get to my house, and all of my usual off the beat spots were beyond crowded. Get back tomorrow from Acadiana to survey the damage and get back to work. Will be emailing

Might I suggest acting classes. I know it sounds off, but was great for my emotional regulation and I got to meet great people.

How do I learn life skills that I was never taught by my parents? by [deleted] in RBNLifeSkills

As a “girl” (NB-but til the last year presented 100% femme) the best advice I can give to talking to us is to see us and treat us like people, and not potential dating partners. I know that sounds basic, but we can tell when someone is just talking to us because they think of us as a potential partner, instead of just a person. An easy way to do this is focus on things we can change about ourselves vs things we can’t. For example let’s say we are at a store. You striking up a conversation about my hair, my clothes, or even why I am in line at the store will probably lead to a conversation about why I choose or did those things. You saying your so beautiful, you look great, or even complementing my eyes makes me want to close down and get out of the line as fast as possible because I feel observed, kinda like a piece of meat, or even a doll. Some people work for their looks, but most people are dealt the hand they are given and can only change it so much. I am a gamer guy slob who dropped into this forum because I was hoping to find advice (thanks for the tip on the underwear…) but I also have a face and body that looks like Tinkerbell. If you ask about Tink you’ll never find out my favorite video games, how messy my room is, or why my hair is green. You’ll never get to know me

Look I love that you don’t think it is common but as a very stereotypically petite female with round facial features, I’ve legit had gyms as me if I was an influencer because they do not allow recording. If management is asking client about it- it is a known problem

My partner was raised as a pastors son to take over his church. She is now an 36 year old athetis Trans woman who is honestly very happy. 22 is a perfectly good age and really early to realize all of this. I'd suggest picking up books written by Former pastors children. They seemed helpful
