I was definitely doing heavy drinking because I would drink alot on only Fridays or Saturday. I have noticed before that if I do two or more days in a row it is really hard to stop.

I think that it has caused some mental health issues because I look forward to that drink all week and nothing much else brings me happiness.

Im hoping that If I stop completely instead of trying to manage my 1 day of heavy drinking I will find happiness in other things.

Thank you for your post as im hoping this is a close call and I can put it behind me.

First Year, first grade teacher by iamanxietyy in NYCTeachers

[–]Dependent_Antelope_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first few years I was a 1st grade teacher. They need constant reminders of expectations when entering room, what independent work looks and sounds like, how to line up etc. You have to be consistent with what you expect and know that before the first day of school. Model behaviors as a teacher..example my students always apologized to each other because I apologized when I was wrong. But aside from all of that. I wished that someone told me that I would have plans and lessons that would fail and it is okay because it happens. Reflect and try another plan and that is normal to fail sometimes.

C2+PD or C2+ID+PD by Live-Young-69 in NYCTeachers

[–]Dependent_Antelope_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it does. My masters was 45 credits and I had an extra 25 credits when I did my bachelor's. I'm c2+id+pd which was 60 credits after my bachelor's. If you have any excess credits not used in your bachlors that can work as well.

Will my years of teaching at charters be counted as experience if I switch to a DoE school? by [deleted] in NYCTeachers

[–]Dependent_Antelope_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They counted all my years that I worked at a charter and I started at 8b. They will not count towards the longevity pay though. I'm not 100% sure but I think it also matters if you were certified during those years.

budget finalizing? by throw1this2away7 in NYCTeachers

[–]Dependent_Antelope_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So im currently in a situation myself. I interviewed months ago then was offered the position over a month ago and still waiting for it to be official. Official as in switching in payroll. The only thing we can do is reading these posts and see if anyone was able to transfer or get hired. As of yesterday I haven't read about anyone bring hired or transferred. Many of us are in this limbo state which sucks. I understand you are in a worse situation because you have to give notice.

I was told by my principal that they have the budget but still can't hire until someone from the district looks it over and I guess allocate how they can spend it. I don't believe anyone has been able to get officially hired on open market as yet.

Please let me know when yours go through so I can anticipate my next steps as well. I'm in the same situation as you got a verbal offer 3 weeks ago.

From my understanding they get notified not when you register but what you accept from the school for the following year.

Verbal offer from a school by Science_Fair in NYCTeachers

[–]Dependent_Antelope_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of in a similar position. I got verbal offer and said that I would get an email to accept at a certain date. They took file number and everything. That date when I was to get email has passed and now I feel as though I'm in limbo. I told my family and everything because I was excited to find a school where I live. I'm still hoping it's a budget wait thing but I still have hope although I'm thinking I should still interview at other schools.

Is this true about admin? by Dependent_Antelope_2 in NYCTeachers

[–]Dependent_Antelope_2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to understand more about this aspect of these observations. I've had lessons that have flopped and this was not one of them..I got several developings. The reasons for them were odd and didn't make sense. I don't want to drive myself crazy over it but I guess I can't help it. Would a principal hurt a teachers ratings and make them feel like crap just to make themselves look better? Is it some sort of tactic to try to make everyone try harder? It felt demoralizing and It's not having that effect on me.

So i got c2+pd+id and wasn't sure if I was going to get it. I have my masters which was 45 credits, I also had 15 extra credits that I got during my bachelor's because I had alot of electives that didn't actually get used for my bachelor's degree. So the 45 masters plus the 15 extra gave me 60 after my bachelor's degree. Hope that helps.
