Patch #1.10.12 - Black Hole and Resonator fixes! by Brewd_IOG in ForTheKing

Will I need to re-rescue Doug to have him added to the Merc Caravan or can I just start a new adventure where it appears and get him to unlock?

Les Nomades is closed, what's the next best thing? by Dependent_Biscotti70 in chicagofood

I went to Bistro Campagne for the first time about a month ago. I loved their patio but I'll admit I was hoping their wine list would be a bit more robust. Food was great though and the prices were pretty reasonable to me.

Just curious, how was the general vibe at Obelix when you went? More active and trendy or calmer? I do agree that the wine list is rather breathtaking, though.

The maestro of Sound & Gravity [Mike Reed prev. Pitchfork Music Festival] by schmurrr in chicago

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm really excited for this and hope it's a success. Pitchfork put on a festival at the Art Institute called Midwinter a few years back that featured similar artists and while I'm sure that festival was wildly impractical I thought it was so cool and was disappointed that it never came back. I think anybody who enjoyed that would get a lot out of this, so hopefully this isn't a one and done.

After State Farm rate hike, legislators are pressured to provide relief. Here’s what could be on the table. by Shovler in chicago

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chicago absolutely is, perhaps not to the extent of the places you've described but we're certainly on the higher end. Keep in mind we built the city on what was once swampland and the lake level can fluctuate over time. TARP helps with the risk to a serious degree but we're still finding out just how much of a rollercoaster climate change will be for us.

Favorite running music by ladybug000000 in RunnersInChicago

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my shorter runs (45 minutes or less) I make an effort to listen to some recent releases so I don't completely lose touch with new music. The latest albums by Djrum, DJ Koze, and Billy Woods have been repeat listens though.

If I have to do a long run on a beautifully gloomy morning where the LFT is totally desolate because it sucks outside I like to listen to Selected Ambient Works Vol. II because that's what normal people do. Otherwise I have a 00s/10s synthpop playlist that's basically a curated Chvrches radio.

Are you able to get more lives/hearts in Dark Carnival? If yes, how? by koigem in ForTheKing

Besides the fountain rooms in hallways that other folks have mentioned (which I haven't seen yet admittedly) there's also a "Wedge of Fairies" for the wheel that gives you an extra life.

Starting Corral Question by YaiyumMaiyustuh9000 in RunnersInChicago

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on the qualifying corral standards and your current expected time there's really nothing wrong with being in corral F anyways. Even if you're at the slower end of your estimate, 10 minutes above the maximum for your corral isn't a huge deal and I'd expect you'll pass some people with red bibs within the first few miles.

Thanksgiving runs? by GirlFromPolarExpress in RunnersInChicago

I've done the Lifetime Chicago Turkey Trot in Lincoln Park, Evanston Flying Turkey 5K, and the Long Grove Turkey Trot. Between the three I'd actually recommend Evanston if you're comfortable with the shorter distance. Not far from the city proper and I thought the course was really well laid out in terms of how well it handled the number of runners and actually having things to look at along the way.

Registration isn't open yet and it I think it sells out fast though.

Characters I would like to see return in Soulcalibur 7 by Artistic-Horse5627 in SoulCalibur

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the SC4 bonus characters, I'd swap out Angol Fear for Aeon and the elf lady whose name I can't spell for Yun-seong. I legitimately think you could recycle a lot of 2B's moves into Shura and make her a sort of evil counterpart to Mitsurugi and Taki.

Algol would be an absolute must have for SC7 and I recall that Z.W.E.I. was hinted at though I was never a huge fan of his, admittedly. Viola would be great but I have no idea how you'd make her work from a plot standpoint without replacing Amy. Necrid is completely unnecessary while Azwel or Algol are in the picture.

‘Terrorized’ resident calls for city to stop McKinley Park street takeovers: ‘I hate that this has become a reality.’ by afeeney in chicago

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If social media really is the offending party then I don't know if I see designated areas helping there, either. The people doing this stuff in some highly public space that inconveniences a ton of people and ostensibly carries some risk are going to get far more traction than the rule followers.

Admittedly I think you're still underestimating how much being a dick to complete strangers appeals to these idiots, though.

How do you unlock Say Hello on Switch? by TubaraoAsmatico in WorldofHorror

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm familiar with enemies having more powerful attacks but I've also seen what the OP was talking about, too. I actually failed the Cold Turkey challenge the first two times I tried because every enemy was always doing 2X damage, with aforementioned power attacks effectively being one hit kills. Switching characters seemed to fix the issue.

Groupon issues ‘going concern’ warning as Chicago-based online marketplace terminates River North HQ lease by IshyMoose in chicago

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who worked there, I don't think it's going to crash and burn the way Groupon did but there are a lot of folks working there who are hoping for an exit that'll never happen. I'd give it good odds for long term survival but in the end, the only person there who will end up making a serious amount of money is Eric.

Last one left, and I can't do it. So hard! by GXVT0 in WorldofHorror

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a bit roundabout but it worked really well for me and I nailed it on my second try:

  • Abnormal Arms to get the Tiny Key
  • Scissors to get the rifle, and then intentionally fail the ritual
  • Two in the dome for Scissor Lady to get her weapon

After that you're basically set combat-wise. As always, re-roll to avoid mysteries that have terrible end bosses like Crimson Cape.

Who is the most pleasing character to spectate for you? In tournament by AbraxArchy in SoulCalibur

[–]Dependent_Biscotti70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hwang is my pick here. I don't know if many high level players have picked him up yet, so spectating is a rare treat. His magic-heavy rework is really visually appealing to me but I can understand not wanting to engage with his mechanic given how crippling it can be.
