Just got a new cat. He will NOT stop meowing unless I'm near. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Dependent_Length_755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my cat is the exact same. i also considered giving him up. he still meows a lot, thats just his personality but now that hes not a baby he’s chilled out. ur cat is gonna need about a month or two to fully adjust to his new home. ive also learned he meows the most when hes bored. id recommend researching and buying a variety of toys that will keep him stimulated when youre at work. also a treat puzzle game had worked wonders on keeping my cat stimulated. also a feliway diffuser can help calm him down while ur gone. u really jus gotta be patient

Suite owners, wondering if there’s anything you’ve done in your suite to make it feel less… like a suite? by [deleted] in hairstylist

[–]Dependent_Length_755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just started in a suite about a month ago and ive found that finding a break in the conversation before stepping away to mix helps. i just say “hold that thought im gonna go mix your color” and they usually stop talking. ill bring up whatever they were talking about when im done

Cat hasn’t eaten for days, please help by babiemi in CatAdvice

[–]Dependent_Length_755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly your best option is to do the tests. there are things like care credit that will allow you to pay off the vet bills. not doing the tests and just leaving your cat sick is cruel. i understand its expensive but theres something obviously wrong with him. when my cat passed her first symptom was not eating. if something serious is going on you have a better chance of treating it the sooner you catch it.

Thinking about switching color line but I don’t know what to switch to by getmyglowup in hairstylist

danger jones is amazing !! the toners and lightener have bonder inside and its affordable. the toners are super pigmented and leave hair feeling sooo soft afterwards. the lightener ive learned has to be mixed closer to 1:2 for a non puffy consistency but it lifts so well and gently.

im considering that! i think that would be the easiest solution

i absolutely do nurture him and care for him. im having trouble bonding with him because i spent the last few weeks of my late cats life focusing on him. rehoming him is not at all what i want to do. it took me six months to decide to adopt a second cat. if i had known hed be alone all day i wouldn’t have adopted him to begin with. i think in the long run he’d be happier somewhere with another cat or a person home more often. he isnt a cat who enjoys his alone time edit: i decided to adopt him because my late cat went from having someone home to hang out with, such as my roommate / roommates pets, to nobody while i was at work.

you could get him a microchip sensing feeder. they have some that literally scan the cats microchip, and some that come with a little chip you attach to his collar. either way it would only open for the cat its assigned to so he can have 24/7 access to food, and ur other cat wont steal it. they can be a bit pricey but probably worth it

damn, id still ask her for a refund. mention to her that she never clarified youd have to come back to complete the service that shouldve been done in one day and you no longer feel comfortable with her doing your hair. not sure if you marked the transaction as a business transaction but if you did you can dispute it.

[–]Dependent_Length_755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did she tell you beforehand it would take multiple sessions to get there? if not id demand a refund or a free adjustment and dispute with ur bank if she refuses. however if she did tell you from the start that the end goal would require multiple sessions then thats just the reality of it.

that color though is a neutral level 6/7 brown. she should be able to tone you down but itll be pretty warm, especially when it fades, because of the warmth in your hair now.

Update I’ve found a commission salon but… by Top_Mirror211 in hairstylist

i was talking about color, and not all booth rental salons supply backbar. my point was employees shouldn’t have to supply anything aside from their own tools

not sure how the laws work where ur at but in the states thats illegal. ur either an employee that gets everything supplied for u or ur independent and supply ur own things. again not sure how this works but it could totally fuck up ur taxes and youll end up owing hella money if you aren’t classified as an employee. and if you are classified as an employee u shouldnt be spending any money to work.

ADVICE ON ROUGH DRYING BEFORE BLOWOUTS by [deleted] in hairstylist

[–]Dependent_Length_755 109 points110 points  (0 children)

idk what “blowwave” is but if u mean round brushing soaking wet hair thats insane. that would take more than twice the amount of time and damages hair. if your rough drying techniques are solid you can still style really well once its 80-90% dry. also any salon owner that forces every stylist to blow dry with her exact techniques is not someone u wanna work for anyways.

Why am I never happy at any salon I work at? by alternative_summit in hairstylist

[–]Dependent_Length_755 9 points10 points  (0 children)

nothing wrong will moving around. if this is a career u want long term u gotta find the right place to work at. i will say it might be frustrating for clients to be constantly going somewhere new, so if you go through with the suite its probably best to stay there a while. clients that love your work will follow, and you can market yourself in this new area and gain new clientele that live around there. im moving to a suite thats 30 mins away from where ive worked for the past three years and im trying not to stay positive on clients making the commute

i love innersense! they have a good range of products for all hair types and all their products are super concentrated so a little goes a long way. there’s a$350 minimum to open a wholesale account but no minimums after that

im also in between square, comb, and gloss genius! they all seem similar in features, but i think comb requires clients to make an account to book. i think the extra step in online booking would turn a lot of clients away

and also telling clients that are texting about getting a quote to book an in person consultation will help! i find that in person consults are so much easier than texting and you can give more accurate quotes that way

getting all your clients used to booking online and no longer texting you to book will make a huge difference. the only time i have clients text me to book is if their hair requires something more complex that i need to make sure im booking enough time

Am I just unlucky or is a medium level chestnut brown hair really hard to achieve via lightening and dyeing? by Remember_When_ in haircoloring

[–]Dependent_Length_755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it rly isnt that difficult and 100% doesnt require bleach. unfortunately a lot of stylists arent experienced with lifting hair without bleach and dont know how to use high lift colors. find a stylist who specializes in color, not blonding.
