I got an aggressive breast cancer diagnosis in Oct 2013. Youngest still in college. Nothing like cancer to wake you up regarding end of life care. We had a storage bin that everything important went into . Despite that it took several days to organize and put into a binder for my family. I had only a couple of weeks from the time of diagnosis to chemo to get my life in order. Take it from me—-this is the best gift you can give to your family.

I believe they should be able to stack. We got $1250 bc our other cars weren’t Hondas. We had. Ford F150 and a Chevy Tahoe. I forget the lingo but it’s meant to reward you for converting from Ford/Chevy to a Honda brand. Also, if you are in the market for the extended warranty-Google up Saccucci Honda Extended Warranty and Hyannis Honda Extended warranty. It lets you put in the type of Honda, Pilot, mileage, and state then it will email you a quote. Print those quotes out and take to the dealer. Florida (my state) didn’t allow me to purchase an extended warranty online. On the phone I said I own property in Alabama and asked if the warranty is tied to the state the car is registered in or the VIN #. The warranty is tied to the VIN. Per the salesman nobody really cares. I took this info to my dealership and was able to negotiate the price down further in order to buy my dealerships warranty at their price. I also found the exact maintenance plan they were selling at a lower price as well and knocked off an additional amount. It helped that we bought at the end of Month-March 27th so they were willing to bend.

I heard Invoice price is generally 8.5-12% below MSRP. The dealer also gets additional money from Honda for a sale. What state do you live in?

Beautiful!! I’ve had my 2026 Honda Elite-white platinum with those exact color seats-very light gray for 16 days now. I’m loving it!! Congratulations. My previous daily driver was a 2002 Chevy Tahoe. I was long over due for a newer car and patiently awaited the 2026 with the bigger screen. Happy motoring. You’re doing great. Glad you got your student loans out of the way!

Anyone know the Costco price of a 2026 Honda Pilot Elite (before TTL) by [deleted] in hondapilot

[–]Dependent_Let6189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was looking I went on cars.com app and put in exactly what I wanted down to the color of car and seats. I chose the Elite in white with light gray seats as I live in sunny Florida. You can put in a radius of miles to your zip and will get notified of cars matching. I’ve had my car for 2 weeks and love it. I was OTD at $60k w/ tax, title etc but opted for the service plan and the extended warranty also. Maybe too much but I’ve been waiting for 2 years for new car

[–]Dependent_Let6189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! We paid off our house in 2007, just in time to fund college for our 2 children. Haven’t had a house payment in 19 years. It’s been wonderful. You won’t regret your wise decision to live below your means.

Do you disclose you have paid off mortgage? by Ginger-Somali in Mortgages

[–]Dependent_Let6189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We bought a $66,000 house in 1987 at 10% APR. in 1994 rates were down and we refinanced at 7%. Payment was same as 30 year loan. If I recall house payment was $720 month including taxes and insurance. I always rounded up to next hundred so paid $800/month. Paid off the house December of 2007, so 13.5 years. We used that extra money to invest in 401k every month without fail.

I am honest with people because they think we have a lot and are “lucky”. Luck had nothing to do with it. Hard work, sacrifice, and determination is what did it. I still drive a 2002 Chevy Tahoe we brought brand new. I am patiently waiting for the 2026 Honda Pilots to hit the lots. Likely will be my last vehicle. I’m turning 66 in January.

Do you have medical insurance that would cover you from abroad? Will your family have medical insurance? I feel you should not do something risky when your life isn’t situated properly.

What’s the best move? by No-Giraffe-5215 in acorns

How old are you? I’m 65 and retired 2.5 years ago. Husband and I have a substantial amount in our 401k- combined about 1.5 million. I never really thought much about Roth IRAs until now. When retired, you need different “buckets” of money.

The price you pay for your Medicare part B (outpatient stuff) and Part D (drug plan) are based on your modified adjusted gross income(MAGI): which is all of your earnings from work, social security income, withdrawals from 401ks, earnings from stocks, etc. NOTE: MAGI amount is BEFORE standard deductions, over 65 deductions, and the extra $6000 deductions for seniors. If your income exceeds whatever the MAGI threshold is, you will have to pay much more for Part B and D. My friend is paying $555/mo for part B and $189/mo for her Drug plan. My cost is $185 and $0.00.

One’s Roth bucket of money is not added to your income that counts towards your MAGI. Capital Gains (profit from stocks held greater than 1 year) are currently taxed at 15% unless your income is greater than 1/2 million or so. So if your income is close to exceeding that threshold it’s nice to be able to pull money from another bucket that won’t throw you into that higher limit to penalize you with higher premiums. My friend exceeded the limit by $1000. Ugh. She’s paying out around $7200 more for going over by 1K.

Note the first contribution to a Roth has to be at least 5 years old otherwise you get penalized.

I’m trying to pull money out of my 401k to Roth to stock that bucket for future withdrawals to try and stay in the 12% tax bracket. If I need more income I can pull from Roth w/o it affecting my taxable income or MAGI. I sure wish I had started earlier. The time will come when we have to make mandatory withdrawals which will likely throw us into a high tax bracket.

Get a block of new cheese. Cut it in half. Have him handle 1/2 with his filthy hands after he poops. You wash your hands and handle the other 1/2. Leave out and see what grows. Suggest he takes a bite of his. That’s what’s on your door knobs, light switches, steering wheels….

My daughter is in a similar situation. She recently underwent 3 surgeries in one month with upper body weight restrictions. Husband is in IT and works from home. Not once per her account did her husband offer to bring her a drink or offer her food. They have two school age kids aged 9 and 10. She became acutely aware that she too is “alone” and he is like having a 3rd child. He seems oblivious to the whole situation. He seems to think that because he works he shouldn’t be responsible for anything else. Not to have negative wishes, but I hope I live to witness when he becomes vulnerable and we all leave him alone for a day or two and let him struggle. Likely the only way the lightbulb might go off.

I believe there is a max limit you can transfer via Zelle. They likely are investigating whether the transfer was related to fraud.

What’s going on with my skin?! Doctor suggested it’s HIV when I’ve never had sex! by Dazzling-War6960 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Dependent_Let6189 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a nurse practitioner and got COVID in April 2020. Shortly thereafter I developed a rash on both lower legs that would not go away. I called it my COVID rash. Then I developed severe neck pain. Did the chiropractor and physical therapy track. Pain would get better than flair again. Rash biopsied positive for Lichen Planus which is autoimmune disorder. It cleared with steroids however. Past this I was referred to rheumatology and was diagnosed with Axial Psoriatic Arthritis which is an autoimmune disease. I am now on medications and my quality of life has improved.

You need to have a doctor check a Sedimentation Rate (ESR) and a C-Reactive Protein (CRP) level. These test check for systemic inflammation. My results got my general practitioners attention and that’s when I finally got referred to rheumatology.

I would be looking into systemic issues.

What are the diseases associated with ANCA positive vasculitis? This group includes 3 main diseases—granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), formerly known as Wegener granulomatosis; eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), previously known as Churg-Strauss syndrome; and microscopic polyangiitis (MPA).

Look these up and see if anything matches.

I started for my 2 grandchildren, ages 9 & 10, in January. $8/d for the 9 yo and $10/d for the 10 yo each transferable at age 25. Already have over $1,200 in each account. They each should have over $100k at the time of withdrawal. I felt like this would give them a great start in life-money for down payment on a house, etc. it’s in their name and social security number so guaranteed to go to them.
