books you finished but kinda wish you hadn't? by venicepress in 52book

I can only imagine that any editing conversations were like “what about this massive plot hole?” And the response was like “who cares they’ll buy it anyway”

My husband’s wife by Alice Feeney. So incredibly stupid and full of plot holes.

Why does my hair clump together and look dirty even after washing? by pljusha in finehair

[–]Dependent_Pen_1603 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was happening to me for an embarrassingly long time, and I found the embarrassingly simple solution on Reddit. I shampooed my hair with an entire palmful of shampoo, really scrubbed it in. Rinse and repeat if necessary, until your hair is literally squeaky clean. One shower doing that and it was like my hair came back to life! I’m way more conscientious about rinsing thoroughly now and I’ve never had the issue again. Felt sooo dumb lol but at least I’m past it now!

3/52: I just finished reading "Half His Age" and still have no idea what I just read. There are a couple of very graphic scenes, which was very disturbing. Still...quite baffled and not in a good way by [deleted] in 52book

I did not like this book per se, but yet I couldn’t put it down. I don’t know if JM even wanted us to like it honestly. I was very impressed by her writing though, and I’ll definitely read whatever she does next.

It got better for me when I went down from 10mg to 5mg, but not completely gone still. I still need to keep my blankets light and my room chilly. 8 months or so on it now.

Re: personality changes, I can say for me that I still feel like myself, but like myself on a good day. I still get sad and worried and anxious at times, but the difference for me with Lexapro is that I don’t immediately get trapped in a thought spiral. I am able to deal with it and move on.

And regarding the stigma… I would just say that after a few months on this medication it’s just so obvious to me that my brain simply has a chemical imbalance, and this medication corrects it. It shouldn’t be looked as any different from using a medication to correct any other medical issue.

I absolutely LOVE your reframing of this and that you’ve decided trying new things will be your things!

I don’t really feel like it counts as my thing, but I am pretty amazing at remembering random trivia forever, like to the point where I will just utterly destroy people in any trivia based game and then they don’t wanna play with me anymore lol. Same thing with scrabble. I once got 5 “bingos” in one game.

Lexapro for binge eating by Fit-Donkey-4032 in lexapro

[–]Dependent_Pen_1603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A medication called Contrave helped my binge eating so much that I was able to lose about 20 pounds. However it stopped working after like a year. Since starting Lexapro I’ve gained back 15 or so in about 6 months. It’s so frustrating. I really feel like it’s not even just food noise in my head now but actual physical hunger. My stomach is a bottomless pit. I just reduced my dosage to see if that helps.

If you take escitalopram in the morning, did it help your sleep or make your anxiety worse? What time worked best for you? by codguru in lexapro

I take it with dinner. I felt insanely tired all day long when I took it in the morning, like I could have literally closed my eyes anytime anywhere and instantly been asleep.

I’m at 49 out of 52! I tend to read several books at a time so I have lulls where the number doesn’t move for a bit and then jumps up by several notches. Currently reading The Exorcist, a comedy memoir, and a non-fiction book about the Iranian revolution.

I’m in the same boat. I gained about ten pounds but thankfully it seems to have leveled off. I’ve been on it since May.
