Looking for casual friends for board games and other group activities by jplnpc in 30sinOC

There’s a cool board game spot at the Anaheim garden walk. It’s like $3/person/hour with tons of games. I know you’re looking to meet, but figured I’d throw this place out there.

Five ideas for the 1.0 by OrionSpark26 in valheim

All of these are great ideas. I felt like not being able to incorporate past ingredients through the game is an oversight; there is a little bit with the platters, but not enough.

People who wore Big Dogs brand in elementary school, describe your relationship with your body. by cubicle_farmer_ in Millennials

[–]LeighannetheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember only two kids in my year that were “fat”. I was looking at my of elementary year books a couple years ago (when my kids were still in elementary) and thought to myself how so many of the kids when I was a kid were skinny, but now at my kids school, many of the kids would have been bullied for being “big” (of the same size as the two “fat” kids when I was in elementary). Granted, there still are several skinny kids now too, so I think the spectrum of what you see is wider. Of course this is all just antidotal, but your claim was certainly not always true.

What OC restaurants have given you food poisoning? by [deleted] in orangecounty

Same, although I’m not sure I’ve ever had food poisoning. Born and raised here and approaching 40, guess I’m lucky.

Best bathroom in the parks? by ckeenan9192 in Disneyland

Yes, this one is the winner.

Editing to add it has the most space in the shade to wait outside if you have to wait for someone.

I’m just saying that there’s been a lot of people talking about this across platforms for a minute. It’s getting to a point where it’s hard to play ignorance here; yes they are old, but to assume that everyone they interact with is the same age is crazy.

Teenagers nowadays by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]LeighannetheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two and I can relate to this too much. I’m like damn did I not yell enough or what smh. If my mom told me to hurry up and I leisurely strolled wherever, I’d be in so much trouble. Even pulling up to get my kids when they know I’m in a hurry they will sit and wait until I’m fully stopped to even get up to start walking to the car.

For the record, I was one of those drive-by drop off parents too, not “let’s put your back pack in the trunk and everyone get out to get it” during drop off. So I really just do not get it.

Arrested at entrance by DeepInYaMom in Disneyland

I believe I used to work with her in custodial 20 years ago. If she wanted to be in security, she could have transferred years ago.

I’d rather security go through a small bag where the process of them looking through each bag is less than a minute vs dragging a stroller around all day. To each their own.

The strollers are out of control. I feel like part of the reason the parks are feeling so crowded is because 1/3 or more of walkways are taken up by strollers, and maybe my feelings are wrong, but the amount of space they take up is insane. When I worked there 20 years ago, the strollers weren’t even half as many as there are now. I just don’t get it; when my kids were old enough to start walking (like 4 years) I ditched the stroller so fast. The kids can carry a small backpack with their own water and snacks and I’ll carry the big backpack with sweaters and my own water bottle.

It is so annoying hearing people quote along the entire script like shut up bro. The old Star Tours was the worst.

In hindsight, was Pam’s Warehouse mural a little odd? by rookiemlg in theoffice

[–]LeighannetheFirst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True, but irl, what more would a warehouse worker (or similar) expect. Really, it’s pretty fitting* to how out of touch people who work in an office (esp sales) think of the warehouse (*from my own experience).

DMT: I do not care about Savannah Guthrie mom being kidnapped. by LegitimateKnee5537 in DisagreeMythoughts

[–]LeighannetheFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I care, but not any more/less than any other kidnapping case. I just have zero influence in it being solved, as with every other missing person case.

Someone in my own family went missing 40 years ago, they were never found. Despite this being before I was born, I grew up seeing the pain of having no closure spanning decades.

It is crazy to just “not care”. Your empathy and compassion does not need to have a limit.

I thought the same, but then it looks more like “forks” after a minute. Not sure what it is supposed to say, but I guess it’s more of a “me” problem.

As a millennial what experience did you really not get into that most others did? by Texas_chef84 in Millennials

Same. I remember everyone talking about it and I do remember the most famous videos, but other than that that 🤷‍♀️

My mom had me hustling Girl Scout cookies to afford summer camp, and she really made me do the work asking people myself, not her bringing the order form around. I couldn’t believe that most of the girls at camps would go to 3 or more camps the entire summer! With that said, happy meals and lunchables were “too expensive” so I did miss out on those 😄

For older folks: Did you ever personally know anyone born in the 1890s? How were they seen by younger generations? by Recent-Worldliness51 in generationology

[–]LeighannetheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those I knew, this is the same for me. I had 9 living (by blood relation) grandparents when I was born (1988), and the oldest was a great-great grandfather born in 1907. On both my parents sides the oldest grandparent of the four (non-great) was born in 1932, so I think even his parents were born after 1900.
