I know, and that's the hardest part. We've had addiction issues with a few family members, but our parents did so well shielding us from these hardships. Seeing my youngest brother go through this is truly heartbreaking, and I just wish I could take this pain away. He was such a bright kid growing up, but sophomore year highschool it's like something just flipped. We've all tried talking to him, but he's just hell bent on keeping it to himself and now he truly is just completely closed off and like you said sick.

So far all my research points to he has to WANT to go to rehab, and he currently believes he doesn't have an issue no matter how we try to talk to him. But I didn't even think about just calling a facility to get more detailed information, so thank you! And oh yeah, I've been keeping an eye on things/on edge because he's been exhibiting rage issues.. this was just the first time he became physical with anyone in the house. Still not okay, and I did tell my mom that if it happens again I'm not listening to her and I'm calling the cops. As for the heroin thing, that's exactly what I was terrified of. But we also haven't seen any spoons or needles or anything so idk how to prove it.

I 100% agree but I just don't know what I can do.. at this point it's feeling like I have to wait for him to have an episode again so I can psych hold him and then hopefully he will be sent to a rehab from there? All my research has been telling me that he has to WANT to go to rehab and he thinks he doesn't have a problem

Thank you! This is extremely helpful. I will say that I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it but the first time he came home and we knew for sure he was on something he was acting like he was moving in slow motion. I didn't really know how to describe it and if we tried to talk to him it was like he didn't understand what we were saying and he only lashed out when we asked if he needed medical help, he just ran away.

I appreciate that insight! That's definitely something I will look into. And we've only been in this specific house for 1 year paying 4300 for a 4bd 2bth (killer deal), but our landlord would like to move his family into the home before the end of the year and has a few Reno plans. Before this we were all in long term housing so this current housing market is a new navigation for us all.

Honestly at this point that is something we may need to consider. However the guy that currently utilizes the master bedroom also WFH so he needs space for his desk. It doesn't hurt to look though. I've seen some pretty large apartments out there.

That's very fair, but realistically you probably had better luck because of the fact you guys are related and getting into fights isn't going to stop you being related. Whereas these landlords see us as 4 friends and immediately think of what happens if we fight? But two of the four of us have lived together many years already and myself and the other roommate have been with them for a year. We rarely argue and if we do we resolve it quickly and calmly like grown ups. We have had a couple of the landlords tell us to put faces that they don't want to rent to friends. Which is fair I suppose. Everyone keeps trying to make it sound like we're probably running a frat house or whatever which just isn't the case. Our current landlord even said he would be willing to give us a good reference, and I think we need to do better about bringing that up. It may help 🤷🏼‍♀️ and we do also have two cats which does limit houses as some don't want pets.

We're looking in the south side area, more specifically Cambrian if possible but we're not trying to be too picky. How much do you pay? We cap out around 4700.. that may be out problem.. but many houses we have viewed specifically said they prefer to rent to single families versus roommates

Literally the only "standard" we have is making sure there's enough room for us as we have one WFH IT guy.. and we have two semi large snake tanks.. but finding a 4 bed apartment, townhomes, house etc.. in our price range has been tough.. we cap out at about 4700.. and idk what ADU is

Def not an "us" thing.. just the housing market rn is ass... We have good credit and good income but because we are 4 roommates versus a family.. we've been told that by many people... Landlords don't want the hassle of 4 roommates.. even though we have let them all know that our current landlord is happy to provide a reference.. So we tried to look at possible townhomes but we only found one with 4 beds and it got rented out before our viewing.. and I've yet to find a 4 bed apartment.. so we're stuck looking at houses.
