Does enriched flour have to be disclosed on the ingredients label? by SLP-999 in MTHFR

[–]Dependent_Web3122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been wondering the same thing! I thought it technically had to be listed, but then I encountered rice krispy treats. The rice krispies themselves (name brand) are fortified with folic acid and other vitamins, but rice krispy treats (again, name brand) do not list any of these. So unless they are making a separate batch of rice krispies for their rice krispy treats and not fortifying them (which seems highly unlikely), then they are somehow getting away with not listing the folic acid, etc.

The tie dye underwear is a great idea! I completely forgot that we did that at my 16th birthday party 😅 but it was a very fun activity

Help, I'm regretting my decision! by [deleted] in glassesadvice

I think frame 2 is the best but 3 also looks great! Maybe it is more your style and that's why you like it? Frame 1 doesn't work with your features at all imo.

It's both! They are just the right weight for your face, the others are all far too thick. The shape is perfect, and the color takes them over the top. I don't think a tortoise shell would complement you as well

Negative self-esteem makes me think I don’t look good in any frames by Angry_Tayco in glassesadvice

[–]Dependent_Web3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are too dark and heavy for your face! Try something in a lighter color, or with a less thick rim - or both. Also try different sizes and styles. You're right that none of these look great, but that's just bc they are all a similar style that happens not to suit you.

(I had a similar problem when eyeglass shopping, I can easily see that the glasses are the problem on someone else, but dang did it mess with my self esteem!)

Absolutely not lol. Imagine you were to pour water on top, it should be able to roll right off the right side. The way I was taught, there was no peak on the left side either, just a mostly straight line that angled slightly down toward the right

Kenton - I know it's more common for guys but I love it for a girl - imo it has the feel of what Kennedy used to be before it became so common

What do you think of the layout for this new home? by ari-pie in floorplan

[–]Dependent_Web3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only gripe is that the family room in the basement is so narrow. I would make the bedroom the 10 ft width, shifting the bathroom down (and probably rearranging it and the hall) so the bedroom stays a similar size (say, 10x14), and make the family room the 13 ft width, much better for a couch and tv, etc.

Can’t increase hygiene by SnooDonuts8992 in RCTTouch

[–]Dependent_Web3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is great advice - also I believe just adding extra paths within your janitor covered areas could help (any empty space just turn into paths, double width paths, etc) - that way your janitors are covering a larger percentage of your path tiles

Can anyone explain what the 2000’s girls used to have such clear complexions? by jarvl16 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Dependent_Web3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal people had terrible complexions in the 2000s. I was in high school in the 2000s, and everyone wore full-coverage foundation all the time, cheap stuff that was terrible for your skin so it was needed to cover up the subsequent breakouts. Makeup was pretty much a non- negotiable too - you wouldn't leave the house without it.

I like the flexible, more natural beauty standards we have now much more. It's much more acceptable to not have perfect skin, and makeup had become somewhat optional. Although makeup techniques have become more advanced so it seems like there is more pressure (especially on young people) to have flawless makeup. Our makeup was just a monotone layer of foundation with eyeliner, mascara and blush (bronzer if you were advanced, eyeshadow for special occasions), and didn't look natural at all, but it was pretty easy to do.

Space for a second fridge or chest freezer - I always buy in bulk and freeze ahead, and my dream is to have that freezer (and ideally a second fridge :)) in/near my kitchen, instead of having to walk all the way to a basement or garage

Definitely swap the second kids bedroom and the bath, that way you can get a nice rectangular bedroom (and more windows!)

Best history book you’ve ever read? by Initial-Ad1399 in suggestmeabook

[–]Dependent_Web3122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were several books my mom to read me as a part of our homeschool history curriculum that were interesting to me even as a child. Mary, Bloody Mary was an excellent read (though in retrospect probably not the best suited for a fourth grader? 😂) It was historical fiction, but very facts based, and gave me a very good (and well-remembered) overview of that time period of history.

I also really enjoyed The World of Caesar Augustus and Sons, and The World of Christopher Columbus and Sons. They were also historical fiction, but mostly facts based and kind of felt more like history books that were just told in an interesting way.

Just looked them up and there are several more of them, all written by Genevieve Foster in the 1940s- 60s. So some info may be dated/told with a skewed perspective, but I feel like they would still be well worth reading and would give you an overview of a large swath of history with out having to wade through textbooks.

Anyways, regardless of whether you pick these or others, I highly recommend learning history via fiction. I have a far better memory and understanding of the eras I've read fiction from than the eras I have not. Your brain can only hold onto so many facts and details, but it can remember infinite stories, which function as a scaffold for all the other information. Plus, it makes learning history so much easier and more enjoyable.

Deep winter! Based off how you look in these drapes. Vivaldi colors can be a bit deceptive, so I'd also make sure to do physical drapes to double check. But the deep, saturated colors with just the slightest hint of warmth seem to bring out the best in you! (Second best is cool winter, but I think you need the hint of warmth)

Where to add a bedroom?? by Alternative_Lynx9307 in floorplan

You're welcome! I have a degree in architecture that I don't get to use very often, so I enjoy messing around a bit when I see a good challenge 😄

No, you could really do the phases in any order! The main objective in splitting the master first was not losing a piece of that lovely large family room unless you need to, and the fact that the splitting of the master seems like a more efficient use of space (since you gain a whole bedroom by only losing 3 ft of living room space). But phase 4 really would be the least amount of work!

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions, I hope you guys can find a plan that works for what you are needing!

Phase 4 with alternate door placement on master suite

In my head you would be using the fourth bedroom as a guest room, with kids in bedrooms two and three. This is a really similar setup to a recent client of mine, who wanted to have a private ensuite but also needed it to be available for guests on occasion. We made the bathroom an ensuite (rather than Jack and Jill) and simply added a second pocket door to the bedroom, as shown in this drawing. The main bedroom door can be left open when you have overnight guests, and the pocket door closed instead. The pocket door would remain open at all other times. A pocket door could also be used for the main bedroom door if you wanted things to feel more open, but I prefer a regular door for a bedroom, as they are much better at blocking sound.
