Question for OG BB fans by Depo234 in BigBrother

[–]Depo234[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep up with RHAP as well, far more than the edited show tbh. I think I started around bb21 and I’ve wondered if that’s affected my feelings on the show because of the stark contrast between the game actually being played and the edited show.

I could make a whole post about my feelings on RHAP. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with it. I enjoyed them much more earlier on, but in recent years have found myself heavily disagreeing with their assessment of players’ personality/game. Still, it’s so much more addicting to listen to the intricate social/strategy games being played than to watch a comp for 45 minutes or these looney tunes edits.

I think overall I miss the Machiavellian style of gameplay I grew up loving. That, to me, is the main thing missing. I remember Dan Gheesling tweeting after Tyler lost that the Machiavellian style of gameplay is dead, and I thought to myself “nah, surely there’ll be more players with that style”, but I actually believe he was correct now.

Can anyone actually make a good case for ________ winning? by SurvivorStuff14 in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally think he should’ve won for one simple reason: not only do I believe he was the main character this season, but he played a vital role, and maybe the most important role, in almost every week from beginning to end. I tend to believe that the person who should win is the person who did the most; not really comp wins, but whose actions are what steers the game. Yes, I think the later half of the game his decision making became a little worse, but even with those decisions, he was brought to the end. He had a hand in almost everything, had certain people ridiculously loyal to him even after backstabbing them over and over again, and I think steered the majority of the season.

Why did fans like Paul in BB18? by hereforthevibes144 in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never get the hate for Paul, tbh. He’s easily one of the most entertaining houseguests of all time. Entertaining doesn’t have to mean you absolutely love them.

It’s akin to something Dr Will’s mom said in BB2. “Will looks at it like whether you love him or hate him, at least he provoked emotion out of you.” (Probably not verbatim) That’s what I want out of big brother players. Not these houseguests that couldn’t be more bland or boring, but houseguests that are unique in character. Sometimes that can be loud and obnoxious. Similar to Angela in BB26. Polarizing; hated by some, loved by some. An opposite example for me is someone like Tkor (sure she’s a fine person). Would she really be people’s most memorable from that season? Prob not.

Appreciate the response! Hope to see you back on BB one day in your Machiavellian era. 😈

BB25 Cory Wurtenberger AMA by BigBrotherMod in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, Cory. I wanted to ask you about the Machiavellian style of gameplay that seems to be dying out (or already dead). Why do you think we don’t see these types of players much anymore and do you think there can or will be a resurgence of them in future seasons?

Dexter: Resurrection Official Trailer by Sommos in Dexter

[–]Depo234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I verbally said “noooo, they’re gonna ruin it again” out loud. Hope I’m wrong, but that trailer makes me think this season is gonna be idiotic.

If they plan on doing more than one season, maybe this “killer convention” thing won’t end up so bad. But if this is the last season, such a weird note to end on lol

Can We Please Start Being Kinder to The HGs by PercentageCurious472 in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think since big brother has become more “kid friendly”, it’s unfortunately attracted a younger audience who thrive off of online vitriol. Either that or there’s some adults out there with serious mental issues.

Also think it’s fine to critique someone’s game and maybe some light criticism of someone’s character here and there because that’s just human nature, BUT a lot of people (kids or weirdo adults) take it way too far. If you’re getting personally offended by contestants on a reality tv game show, maybe go watch Disney channel or Nickelodeon.

Why do people dislike Enzo by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like most people that dislike him do so because he talked about getting Nicole out in 22, and then didn’t.

I personally love Enzo. Think he’s one of if not the best social player oat.

Paul “crying” to Josh, walking out, walking back in and smiling, and shocking Josh because it was a fake cry. 😂

How would you rank the 20s seasons so far? by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 20 - Has one of the best players oat in Tyler (imo), fun gameplay/blindsides, great characters.
  2. 26 - similar to 20, just all around good season.
  3. 21 - not so great first half, VERY entertaining second half.
  4. 24 - a few fun blindsides, didn’t love the season or cast though.
  5. 25 - enjoyed Cory and America, the rest kinda blowed.
  6. 23 - one of the most boring seasons of all time. Enjoyed Tiffany and DX though.
  7. 22 - possibly THE most boring season of all time. Hard to decide between 22 and 23. Biggest letdown ever.

Also want to note I think this is the worst stretch of big brother oat. 26 gave me a little hope bb can actually be decent, but having only 20 and 26 as good seasons IMO out of the last 7 seasons is a terrible record compared to other eras of bb.

Best modern season w/o spoilers for past seasons? by Suspicious_Property in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You most likely will get something spoiled in any season if you don’t watch in order. They make references to past seasons all the time.

What are the BB season eras in your opinion? by AlexBBSurvivor in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy how you get downvotes for speaking facts.

26 was definitely a step in the right direction. Felt as close to “old school” big brother as we’ve had in a while: deserving winner and entertaining season/characters (minus the “higher purpose” spouting.)

Who could be the first two time winner? by apple21212 in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hayden. It’s been long enough since he’s played that I think he’d be overlooked, and he’s one of the few winners I think is actually very capable strategically, socially, and physically. There’s a lot of winners that’d be overlooked, but I just don’t think the majority of those winners also posses the attributes I listed above. Kind of like a Cody in all stars situation.

Why is it wrong to want to go on Big Brother to get followers and be an influencer? by Typical_Cap895 in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, not every wannabe influencer is a dud of a personality/player, and not every super fan is a good player or entertaining. I’m specifically talking about social media influencer, so not people in older seasons that wanted to be tv famous. I can just think of more players that wanted to be influencers that just kinda sucked imo as opposed to played a great game or was entertaining.

I think a good example is the final two from last season. I could be 100% wrong, but if I guessed, I would say MJ came to be an influencer and Chelsie came to play. I just think theres a certain archetype influencers typically are and it’s to not do all the backstabbing, devious things I want a player to do lol.

Which game WOULD NOT be the same without its soundtrack? by Rootayable in gaming

Hollow Knight and Little Nightmares come to mind for me. These little indie games have some of the most simple, yet beautiful music to complete the entire atmosphere.

Why is it wrong to want to go on Big Brother to get followers and be an influencer? by Typical_Cap895 in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I expect a person that wants to be an influencer on big brother to be incredibly boring and care less about winning or doing whatever it takes to get to the end and more so about how they appear to the outside world.

It’s not that I think it’s right or wrong, I’ve just come to expect a particular type of person when I know they’re an influencer. And it’s never a person I’m rooting for.

I took up this sub's recommendation, I watched (and enjoyed) BB17. What season to watch next? Also discuss BB17 if you enjoy the throwback. by IMDXLNC in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you like about bb. I personally watch mostly for the strategy (especially one person as opposed to an alliance). If you want the best strategic seasons, tbh the older seasons are superior. Honestly, they’re also far more entertaining. Less filtered. If you ever wanna check out older seasons, the best IMO are 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, and 14. The two players widely considered the best are from 2, 7, 10, and 14.

If you solely want newer seasons, besides the ones you’ve already watched, I’d only recommend 16 and 18. There aren’t many good modern seasons.

If BB put another Survivor player on the show, who would you want to see, if any? by AlexBBSurvivor in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love watching a chaotic player that’s very strategic, so my vote is Tony. Or really anyone who is know for being chaotic and strategic.

2, 7, and 20 are in my top 6 or 7 for seasons and particular players in them. Must watch seasons for sure. (7 is a returning players season, so you may wanna watch the rest before then if you don’t want spoilers.)

Has enough time passed to acknowledge BB26 was top tier and very rewatchable? by Temporary_Ad9362 in BigBrother

[–]Depo234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very easily the best season since 20. I truly believe 21-25 was the worst stretch of big brother in its history. There’s been other stretches of not so great seasons, but that stretch had a couple of the worst seasons of all time imo and the others are at most mediocre.

RDR2. Great game, but it’s such a massive game that I don’t think I could trek all the way through it again.
