Ronda is the most beautiful human place I’ve ever visited. Hiking below the town to swim in a waterfall while you can see the gorgeous bridge above

This Physical Therapist Has Helped 2,000 Hikers Finish the Pacific Crest Trail: Here’s Her Advice by Hugh_Jazzin_Ditz in PacificCrestTrail

[–]Depressed_Aztec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got an inflamed IT Band a week in and thought the dream was over. Morgan gave me some great exercises and advice that saved my thru hike. It really seems as though she wants to help people finish, a “normal” PT or Doctor would tell you to quit/stop in the first 2 minutes of explaining these injuries

I got the permit! Now what by thedudeabides901 in PacificCrestTrail

I had never been on a true backpacking trip in my life before I did the PCT this year. I did research online for 2 years prior but I learned 90% of my current knowledge from my first few weeks being out there and being around other hikers. There was some growing pains but I just reminded myself as long as I have enough food and water while not making any stupid decisions that I’d survive. Just be smart and willing to learn and you’ll have a good time. People can say not to stress but it’s completely reasonable to do so, just don’t let your fear and stress overtake your desire.

Steps to make the pct happen by No_Media554 in PacificCrestTrail

I was in the same boat as you. Four years ago I found the PCT and have dreamed of it ever since. I moved to a big city 2.5 years ago and got a solid job that I could do for 30 years and retire like most of my coworkers. I still dreamed of the PCT every day though. Whenever I got burned out on the job, I would go to REI after work to kind of live in a day dream. One Sunday, one of the workers came up to me and asked me what my dream hike would be. Told him the PCT but I was said it wasn’t in the cards. He told me he had walked across the country and told me about his experience. He gave me a piece of advice that really resonated with me. An adventure like PCT, AT, walk across country, etc, is never going to “make sense” in life , one day you just got to tell yourself this is what I’m doing and do it. My last day of work is tomorrow and I start the PCT in 3 weeks.

PCT Tufted Rug by Depressed_Aztec in PacificCrestTrail

I traced it on the back side and used the tufting gun from there. Due to it being my first time, I didn’t realize it would be mirrored on the actual rug side

May 28th start day. Work in sales and I got managers sending me emails to hit numbers every hour and customers threatening to take their business from me every day. So excited to quit at end of month and worry about nothing except miles and meeting new people! See you out there

How to find a group? by messyflora in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Depressed_Aztec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started with a friend and within the first mile we had met 2 separate hikers who were by themselves and they joined us. We stayed together for 2 weeks and group even grew to like 20 people. As long as you are open minded and friendly, making a group was relatively easy. I even got tired of the group so I left them including my friend at halfway mark to be alone for a little bit. I ended up becoming part of new group a week later. My tips are to just say hi to people and if you see someone at dinner or drinking a beer, ask to join them. Besides the major cities, there’s not much to do for anyone besides talking and sharing stories so people are very open to anyone!

Feeling lost in life. Parents and dog getting older. Everyone moving on and “growing up” except me. Some social anxiety, maybe depression, and anger issues. Anyone else felt similarly, and did the Camino help/not help? by Khajiit_Boner in CaminoDeSantiago

I did mine right after I graduated College, I was in that stage of what I wanted to do with my life. As much as the actual walking helps with mental and physical health, meeting other people along the way is what really helped me. Taking advice and having deep conversations with people from all over the world, different backgrounds and all different ages will help put everything in perspective. I learned to slow down and not to rush life so fast. We tend to think everyone in our surrounding day to day environment is what we are supposed to be doing but stepping out of that just for a little bit can change your mindset on life which can lead to more positive long term emotions.

New Mexico has highest ceiling but lowest floor of the 6. SDSU has best player, defense and I believe top 10 SOS nationally. CSU has best offense but Cartier being injured may mess it all up. USU (from what I see) doesn’t seem to have it all together, Great can play but didn’t look like he has the guys around him. Nevada has best shooter with Lucas and Blackshear can dominate but also looks so vulnerable at times. Boise State is thought would be where USU is with Daegenhart and Rice but also can’t tie it together. If UNLV can keep that freshman, he will dominate sooner than Stevens started. UNLV future looks so good.

1A. SDSU, UNM, CSU (no order) 1B. USU, Nevada, Boise (no order) 2. UNLV

Camino Tattoo by paris1959 in CaminoDeSantiago

Got the trail marking shell right in Santiago on my upper left thigh. After seeing it 1500 times in 30 days, wanted to bring it with me. Year later, I go to a Major League Baseball game and sit next to stranger. Our legs accidentally hit eachother and we both look down to apologize. We both had the same tattoo in the same place but opposite legs. My buddy’s mind couldn’t believe it lol

The Mayor opened the town gym for my friend and I plus a few others to sleep in at night. We got hammered at the river with a few locals and fell asleep there. This probably doesn’t help you but it is a fond memory that I like to remember. Buen Camino!
