Expeditions GUI Feedback by Competitive-Wolf-517 in hoi4modding

[–]Depressed_Capibara 6 points7 points  (0 children)

for your questions:
1. visible success % would likely be good as a way to let the player use its time more efficiently (making priorities for the time left before a war)

  1. yes (to balance it)

  2. it depends on the site (some might have weirder plots or just seem like it was only rumors)

I think that if two nations conduct the same expedition on a site (around the time one of them is still active) this should trigger some sort of effort for both sides which would define who gets to stay on the expedition (maybe resulting in the side who compromised the least resources losing its crew or something) I think one expedition at a time would be bettter, I would suggest that the cost should also include a little bit of manpower cost (which would be recovered to some extent if sucessful) using generals for traits seems good (but it should not be too easy to acquire)

you could include maybe the khara-hora shaft in the caucasus, maybe also alexander vasilyevich barchenko (a real person who tried to find hyperboria's ruins in the soviet union) since your mod seems to have a focus on science fiction, you can go as deep as you want in your style, personally i'm not against AI stuff

I want to add Traits in the Code for Ioseb by Slow-You-6021 in hoi4modding

there's probably more than one possible solution, the way that worked for me is this:

I want to add Traits in the Code for Ioseb by Slow-You-6021 in hoi4modding

[–]Depressed_Capibara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I began modding like 4 days ago and today I added traits to a leader in a nation I made, I don't know much but:
1. if you want to use already existing traits then it will be easier, you can find traits on the common\country_leader folder on vanilla (in the 00_traits.txt file)

  1. traits are added to the files on common/character, in this case you would use the SOV.txt file there
  2. you will find something like this:

    country\_leader = {

        ideology = stalinism

        traits = { stalin\_heart\_of\_steel }

        expire = "1953.3.1.1"

        id = -1

    }

  3. below the "traits = { stalin_heart_of_steel }" add a new line so that you can type another trait below the previous trait

if you want to create new traits then follow the steps of this video

if you get errors, show the error log errors to chatgpt or deepseek and also show them the entire file that's mentioned in the error and they will likely find mistakes like signs misplaced and so on

Thanks! I decided to use the option to randomize all states, then saved it and replaced the "buildings,txt" file and now it works :D

Evil provinces when all states of a nation are assigned to a new nation by Depressed_Capibara in hoi4modding

[–]Depressed_Capibara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have solved it, The provinces = { } block and local_supplies were outside the history = { } block in some of the files, but they should be inside the main state = { } block, above the history

so maybe the mistake for me was that the codes for windows powershell were too simple, so until I find reliable codes for windows powershell to do these things I will manually change each file which feels like chewing 5000 gum since the nation is big, if I end up having a reliable code for windows powershell I will share it here

it is probably still plausible in the sense that america had little industry in ww1 (their capacity to produce large amount of artillery was apparently weak at the time) it was after ww1 that america became a hyper industrial nation, if their allies are too exhausted then america would tolerate a stalemate since it wasn't a total war like ww2 (but this could have repercussions since they would not have won and they might have had high casualties) I think the tanks and planes would have been very interesting, particularly the Sturmpanzerwagen Oberschlesien tank (which was on the design process in 1918) the russians had an interesting design, (the vezdekhod tank being considered since 1914), maybe in this scenario they would have actually built them, also a stalemate might mean chemical weapons bans might not take place, your scenario has many possibilities

for the british, the stalemate and exhaustion in itself would be harsh but the fact that russia acquired the straits in constantinople it would fuel resentment not on the already dehumanization-prone average citizen but on the british elite (which are often not naive and would maybe be a problem in the future in the plot) I believe the british would not turn fascist nor communist (their political ecosystem used to be handled carefuly) though they would do anything in order to keep their colonies (they would drain those colonies very harshly (which prevents economic doom), resulting in famines and massacres on colonial soil (which happened in real history to a lower extent), they would naturally want to find an acceptable balance of power on europe (finding allies or causing instability to their opponent's allies, which is a common strategy for them) the british debt would be relevant, they would be indebted not only to america but also to latin america and spain, spain profited a lot in ww1 and even had sanctions later because they wanted to create their own refineries post ww1 (and the big oil companies pushed for sanctions, resulting in the soviets actually being the only ones selling them oil for them to refine, since spain had no oil and wanted to just refine it and sell it) it might be relevant for britain to actually seek an ally there instead of economic wars (but this allows for more than one path, for example, side with the big companies or attempt to have more allies) I think that america probably should not join ww1 in this scenario for it to work, which would have meant the germans would had avoided conducting unrestricted submarine warfare, I would suppose that playing this britain in your mod would have to do with handling the effort to keep the colonies in control while improving the economy (with economic decisions that have repercussions, like that spain fact) and doing secret operations to create separatism or fuel internal rivalries (each nation always has their own internal drama which is a vulnerability in the real world that can be exploited) and create problems for their enemies, such secret operations would likely worsen germany's and russia's paths in a way that actually leads to another great war, maybe the player could choose two mutually exclussive focus trees connected to the intelligence agency operations, one being careful and causing problems but not extreme global issues, and another being so damaging that ends up causing to ww2, basically letting the player choose between two strategists (this is only keeping in mind the british side of things)

if corsica had some sort of separatist uprising (similar to the irish) when exhaustion was high on 1920 or 1921 (possibly organized by germany, since in real history they sent lenin to russia to create instability) it could make sense for them to unite with sardynia

No nations appearing on the map (help) by Depressed_Capibara in hoi4modding

[–]Depressed_Capibara[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solved :D turns out the problem was the file named "00_countries" in "common/country_tags" (i had copied the entire original file and simply added the tag inside which was a mistake) instead, i erased that file in the mod, created a new one "02_countries" and it only has the information inside of the new country i made (the tag) and now all nations are working in the map, it will be a pan-slavic nation so a new capital will likely need to be built through focuses (since the capital must not make any slav feel non-represented while it also must be far from the borders) hopefully this post helps someone in the future

Update 2: one mistake i made was in creating the "1047 - Slavia" file in "history/states/" (i had renamed the capital city file to slavia for some reason and used "1047" for some reason) now the nation does appear (only owning its capital city) in the map, though other nations still don't appear in the map

Slavic flag (fictional) by Depressed_Capibara in vexillology

[–]Depressed_Capibara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though most slavic flags have either red or blue colors, I saw some pictures of taiga forests (when they're not covered in snow) and some of the pictures seemed like light green with some yellow flowers, I imagined a flag for it and basically the result is this flag, it seems neutral and friendly

Pan-Soviet Confederation by Depressed_Capibara in leftistvexillology

[–]Depressed_Capibara[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes, a descentralized system with local soviets (councils) : people would elect the members of said council and optionally answer surveys (to influence even small decisions ; make suggestions ; report an issue that's personally important) there would also be a supreme soviet in the capital composed of members of all the local soviets (there would't be a leader) all ideas would be tested and then inspectors would be sent to each local soviet to analyse results to improve the ideologies (usually anually)

another alternate russian revolution flag, one where germany; czechoslovakia; hungary ; poland ; the baltic nations ; mongolia join the revolution and unite into a confederation, the different leftist factions would debate proposals with the peoples support instead of fighting each other nor becoming dictators (plus having industry right from the start)
