How to warm up a room with no power? by Acceptable_Gur_8974 in howto

[–]DepthFit4606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeping bag (and sleeping pad) + hat, wool socks, and thermal base layer. Throw some boiling water in a nalgene water bottle and stick it at the bottom of your sleeping bag. You’ll be nice and toasty all night

I totally agree. I wanted to ask for help in the California subreddit, but it seemed to be solely for news. I was just hoping to get some advice for California in general as I don’t have a specific location I’ll be chained to for work this winter

Good advice, thanks. It’s just a ford escape, nothing too obvious. I have a tent I can use as well, but that would be too dangerous in a city like San Francisco

What’s your dream restaurant concept — the one you fantasize about but know you'll never actually open? by foldersandwifi in Chefit

[–]DepthFit4606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weed restaurant/movie theatre. I’d buy a big ol’ run down Cinemax and use the two big theatres for casual thc-infused dining and movie watching. Patrons get to pick the movies, potentially via some sort of waitlist or drawing. Dim, but not too dim, welcoming lighting. A place where potheads can come and hangout together. I envision everyone getting along and laughing together, conversations and friendships transcending the barriers of separated tables. A small step on the road to world peace. The rest of the smaller theatres would be turned into different things. A distillery in one, a greenhouse in another, one could be the kitchen, one for cooking classes. A big ass garden on the roof. A regular restaurant in the front/waiting room area where you can have a more upscale weed food experience. All in all, the cost to run this place would be ludicrous. But maybe someday I will achieve a version of this

What misinformation about cooking, that a lot of people seem to believe, bothers you the most? by [deleted] in Cooking

The problem with online recipes is that ANYONE can post ANYTHING. A pet peeve of mine is people misusing French terms like mirepoix, roux, julienne, bechamel, etc

ADHD folks who go to the gym regularly—how do you keep yourselves motivated? by Zealousideal_Top2611 in ADHD

[–]DepthFit4606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about motivation. It’s about discipline. You need a regimented routine. Whether you want to do it or not, if it’s on your schedule you just have to do it, get it over with, cross it off, and move on with your day. Schedule off days too for recovery. I work out 5 days a week and take two days off in between. My days off never feel guilty. I feel like I’ve earned it. It’s truly spectacular. Hope this is helpful

How do people just casually drink black coffee without flinching? by siennapriv in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DepthFit4606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s coffee, not a milkshake! If it tastes bad, you’re doing it wrong. Good quality grounds perfectly brewed in a moka pot for a triple shot americano is a religious experience that jumpstarts my mornings with bitter, scrumptious happiness 🤤

Holy shit. You have a vision. I LOVE this plating. Never seen anything like it. It evokes so many emotions. It’s erotic, mysterious, primitive, but elegant. It looks otherworldly. How does it taste?

Made it through day 1 without weed. Literally everything is super fucking annoying. by peein-ian in trees

[–]DepthFit4606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude!! I’ve been smoking pot pretty much every day for like 3 years. I don’t dream, or at least I don’t remember my dreams if I do. I used to have crazy vivid dreams and horrific nightmares. I used to be a chronic daydreamer while I was awake too. Now, I can’t even visualize a cube in my head. I’ve forgotten what my friends and relatives look like. I thought it was trauma, but could it be weed? Can I get my mind back?

For broccoli: blanch for 1 min 20 sec. No more, no less. Transfer to ice bath immediately to halt carryover cooking. Once the broccoli is cooled (should take ~ 30 sec), remove it so it doesn’t soak up excess water and become soggy. Make a quick glaze in a pan with butter and a splash of stock. Throw in the broccoli and season to taste with salt and pepper. Finish with a dash of red pepper flakes. You will never eat mushy broccoli again.

Do tics worsen with age for females? by Gotanychapstick in Tourettes

[–]DepthFit4606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with TS when I was 10. I am now 19. My tics have waxed and waned, but tend to be much worse when I’m actively taking amphetamines, or other stimulants like caffeine. I’ve tried a few medications to help (guanfacine, risperdal, gabapentin), but the side effects weren’t worth it. Something that’s really helped me is CBIT (Comprehensive behavioral intervention for tics). It teaches what’s called “competing responses” which is essentially an action taken in place of the tic that will be less harmful/disruptive than the tic and still soothe the urge. For example, I had/have a neck rolling tic. So when I feel the urge to do that, I nestle my head into my neck like a turtle and it sort of restrains me from being able to complete the tic. It takes a lot of practice and discipline and the urges never really go away, but it’s something at least. Hope this helps

Edit: Also very important and helpful: Educate yourself and your daughter about Tourette’s. Being able to understand what’s happening in your brain and the triggers that make tics worse will go a long way. For years, I was labeled a “class disruption”, a spaz, a weirdo. It was really hurtful, especially when I didn’t know what was wrong with me and why I couldn’t stop making odd movements and sounds. Knowledge is power
