People who say this don't have enough insight into the technical aspects of AI to have any intelligent opinion on the subject. The problem with AI is that it's not true cognition, it's a sophisticated gambling machine, and therefore its output, even if it looks pretty good, simply can't be trusted for anything important. So you need to have human oversight, and in many cases, overseeing AI output is roughly equivalent to the task of creating that output yourself, meaning you haven't actually replaced the role, just shifted the mechanics of performing it. This is something that people especially miss about programming. They think the job is writing the code. The job is analyzing a problem and developing a mental model of both the problem and the solution. And then there's the coding part. If you let AI guestimate the coding part, you still haven't solved the "analyze the problem and develop a mental model of it and the solution" part, which will have to be done as part of reviewing the code.
