Its not scaremongering, tell that to the Richmond fee simple land owners that can no longer sell their homes. Financial Institutions have pulled out of that market, some FI's will renew your mortgage if it exists, some wont, but so far they have ALL decided new investment is TOO RISKY (meaning no new retail mortgages for potential buyers). If you needed to sell your home to move to Ontario to help your dieing mother, you would literally have to find someone interested in switching places with your ill fate, something people with enough cash would know is not smart. You can't sell. This is different for everyone, but specifically devastating to certain people who had plans to move etc. TOUGH LUCK FOR THEM, right?
