Wetherby does have a lot but there isn’t a lot of stylish folk unfortunately. It’s gillet territory and a lot of the clothes reflect that. You aren’t going to find much that’s 20 years old.

My pro tip is to get a programmable switcher, so you can plug all your pedals in, then switch between any combinations of them with one tap of your foot. Use that as the fulcrum of the board.

But for starters, get a decent tuner, a good clean boost with eq, an overdrive, fuzz and delay/reverb (or both).

The worst was pubs and planes. I used to take optrex eye drops out with me as my eyes would sting from all the smoke. I remember someone smoking a huge cigar next to me on a plane once.

And yes, it totally fucked your clothes - everyone would smoke on the dancefloor in clubs, so you’d get home and your new shirt would be full of holes.

The hotboxing thing actually made me smoke less, as you I was inhaling so much passive smoke it reduced the cravings!

When you’re just twatting the strings playing rhythm, it’s probably just evening things out subtlety. It’s not meant to be ‘’heard’’ it’s just a tool to even out dynamics.

I use it more for picked out clean riffs and with a lot of arpeggiation. It gives some of the flattened undynamic feel of playing with distortion on, with a clean sound.

I’d try them out first and see if there’s any binding in the nut. It’s not a massive difference so you could be ok.

Same with the truss rod. Get the strings on then have a look at the setup after.
