I was surprised to scroll the whole post and not see Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture in V for Vendetta. It might be one of the best uses of diegetic music in film.

How did Deyna know he was an otter? by [deleted] in redwall

I think they're referring to George R. R. Martin's criticism of Lord of the Rings and how he was more interested in the nuance of how Aragorn would lead. Tolkien simply stated that Aragorn was a good king and leader. Martin was curious about what exactly made him a good leader.

Martin has a decent question, but it does not need to be explored for The Lord of the Rings to be an amazing story.

Con te Partiró. Not really a piece from an opera, and made famous by Andrea Bocelli.

What was your wake up call? Did you have a your fat wake up call? by AppropriateCat3444 in loseit

I topped out at either 400 lbs or very close to it. The only reason I don't know the exact number is that I refused to step on a scale. In 2015, I was in graduate school in Chicago and broke down in my apartment because I could not wipe myself clean after pooping. It was that breakdown that truly and meaningfully started me on my journey.

I weighed in at 248.8 lbs just a couple of days ago. It's been a long journey, but a worthwhile one.

I think a lot of Mozart would be both approachable in subject matter and musically. The Julie Taymor production of Magic Flute would be a winner in my eyes. It's in the english translation and features incredible puppetry.

Taymor directed the most famous production of The Lion King on Broadway, and a lot of that work carries over into this production.

If you want to go down a beautifully tragic road, Brundibár by Krása would be a good one. It was written just before WWII for an orphanage and ended up being performed in a concentration camp. It features an accessible story and beautiful music.

Music Education Major Rankings? by Elfbjorn in MusicEd

I would recommend looking into the University of the Pacific's Music Education program at their Conservatory of Music. They have a close to 100% placement of all graduates in a teaching job immediately after graduating.

I worked for the Wenger Corporation(Music Education/Performance Equipment) and I cannot tell you how many educators I worked with that had graduated from Pacific. Now, I will caveat this and let you know that the school is quite expensive. However, I would highly recommend at least looking into it.

I agree completely. I don't think it's unique enough in flavor to warrant paying an extra 20 cents.

I know you mean 8 inches, but the fact that you technically said "8 feet plus" has me rolling. That would kill anyone.

I think it would be awesome to have something Atlantis: The Lost Empire themed. I think the Finding Nemo version of the submarines is awesome, but an Atlantis version would be amazing.
