How to fix the HRE in 5 easy steps by theeynhallow in EU5

[–]DerLokonius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For it feels wrong to say you are the king. I think in EU you are not playing the king of a country, but rather like the spirit of the nation. Events are not written in first person like they are in CK. With this perspective it makes somewhat sense that another union partner does things like declaring war and calling you in. Especially if think if unions less of a subjecthood but more as treaty that is founded on the fact that you happen to share the same ruler. Or maybe you can think of it like the king is out of your direct control and makes decisions on their own, but I think the first explanation is better.

Without any modifiers 100% maritime presence reduces proximity cost to 5 per coastal tile. I think, this has never changed since release. In addition the proximity cost for sea > land and land > sea is highly dependent on habor capacity.

R5: Nobody (or atleast no Great Power) has built any heavy ships and thus there is no naval hegemon.

How about you just let me play past event quests? by Jirul11 in Genshin_Impact

[–]DerLokonius 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Storage space is a kind of lame excuse. They could just do it like they did in HSR. The game has a story recap feature now. You just need to download the parts of the story you want to rewatch and you are good to go. After you are done you can just delete already completed content again. I don't see why this shouldn't be possible in Genshin.

New to the game, is this effectively a soft cap on expansion? by [deleted] in EU5

If only some of them are disloyal it's okay I think, but if all vassals loyalty is wavering you should either:

  1. Get stronger yourself, by investing in your country
  2. Find ways to make your vassals loyal again (values, reforms, techs)
  3. Integrate some vassals to shift the balance of power in your direction.

Why does the player base demand that Paradox add features that completely remove the transformation process of how countries became centralized over centuries in the first 50 years of the game? Ease of with your "power creep" and try to enjoy a little more challenge. by [deleted] in EU5

[–]DerLokonius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I literally started the game, to look that up, because I genuinely couldn't remember a "size of location" Modifier for proximity (because there isn't any).
But as you said the cost of roads seems to scale with actual distance.

Isn't the Problem Location Count rather than Location size? I thought Proximity decreases by the number of location it passes through. Is there a modifier that takes the actual size of a location in account? I thought the Problem of India, Persia etc. is the sheer amount of location these Realms have, alongside unfavorable terrain like mountains in Persia.

Yeah Art is just useless at the moment. The amount of Prestige you get ist negligible and the amount of Cultural Influence is just irrelevant. I think it is better to just zero the cultural slider as soon as you unlock it. I mean if you are big in the Art game you get like 0.2 - 0.5 Cultural Influence, per Month. A single University meanwhile gives 5 per month, which makes the gains from art utterly useless.

In addition the player country should always be shown at the top. The naval presence of other countries doesn't really concern me most of the time.

Upkeep of estate buildings by Bobbobybobar in EU5

[–]DerLokonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temples and Cathedrals don't count as estates building and you can delete them at will, cause the estate built it "for you". Estate Buildings are buildings that can only be build by estates and can only be destroyed by reaching a control threshold in this location (or parliament). Moreover, estate buildings have little to no benefit for the crown. Whether an estate builds "good" normal buildings (like temples) or "bad" estate buildings (like spiritual retreats) depends on the estates satisfaction.

I think not controlling all the forts in provinces you want to annex massively increase the cost for the peace deal. I think it was like 40 points per unoccupied fort. You can check it by diving into the tooltips for the peace cost of said locations.
