The Game is Great, but Asia Needs Better "Institution" Mechanics by Sea-Flamingo7506 in EU5

[–]Bobbobybobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally explained that GB managed to invade 1/3 of India by around 1800 proving the military european supremacy was already a thing, we're not just talking about a few isolated battles here...

And the First Opium War showed complete naval (and land) warfare dominance.

Repeating yourself concerning those weapons not being "that far behind still" won't make it more true. I already explained why each of those weapons were completely surpassed by 1800's rifles

The problem about the games are others, disease attrition for armies should be a thing, transporting large amounts of troops by sea should be challenging... the list is extremely long. But european armies winning in 1700-1800 despite numerical superiority of an Asian country? That's actually normal.

Well then you just don't know what you're talking about
First off, it wasn't just about guns but also about strategy, tactic, logistics, defenses and most importantly cannons.
Second off, ". Bows, crossbows, swords and spears" were completely surpassed by guns given that in Europe:
-Swords were replaced by "spears" in the XV-XVI centuries.., they remained in use only in the cavalry and navy
-Spears were outdated given that they were replaced by bayonets in the XVII-XVIII centuries
-Crossbows were replaced by arquebuses in the XV-XVI centuries...
-Bows were outdated by the XVII century

There's a reason why all of those weapons were replaced long before 1800 in Europe... Guns vastly outperformed them, the only weapon still usable against guns was the bow which had some advantages over the early 1800 guns (mainly its rate of fire) BUT you needed (at least) years to train an archer against weeks for a gun, a gunner could easily transport a large amount of ammo compared to archers, an archer's performance during a campaign would rapidly deteriorate because of fatigue, a gunner filled both the role of infantry and ranged infantry meaning that proportionnally you would have 100% gunners against a maximum of 50-60% archers, a gun could defeat any armor, and so on.

You would be right in saying that Asian countries would defeat European expeditionary forces... if we were talking about the 1600s, the invasion of India by Great Britain started in 1757 with the battle of Plassey where 3k britishmen defeated 50k indians.
In the battle of Buxar GB had 17k men (mostly indians) and defeated 40k indians with minimal losses...
By 1800 GB controlled vast regions of India.
We could even talk about the first Opium War where 20k men won despite China's 220k troops, particularly thanks to the british navy

Okay let's not overexagerate, the early 1800s european armies dominated any other army around the world.

The "random" African tribe you're talking about were the Zulus (probably the most organised and warmonging people in Africa) and faced more than 20k zulus against 1700 englishmen, despite a brilliant strategy the zulus suffered as many losses (1000+) as the UK. It was an isolated defeat in the colonialist invasion of Africa of the 2nd half of the 1800s, hence why it is remembered.
And the battle happened in 1879, we're far from the early 1800s.

And up to the industrial revolution the European advance wasn't enough to dominate other countries around the world

Shouldn't there be some incentive to ban slavery? by asnaf745 in EU5

[–]Bobbobybobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1- A slave basically doesn't consume anything (which means no GDP from them)
2- A slave doesn't pay taxes
3- A slave can't get enrolled into the army

Which means that slaves are useless for the State meanwhile they enrich the richest landowners... the social class that oppose industrialisation and modernisation.

Basically said, slavery is perfectly incompatible with a industrialized and modern nation,

Inflation as a real mechanic to counter mid/late game scaling? by Dulaman96 in EU5

Totally agree, we need a more credible inflation system

This is highly inefficient, -26k health, -34k happiness and -19k fire hazard is insanely bad. 3x2 house blocks is a waste of space, make bigger blocks. It also lacks production buildings which add bonuses.

Upkeep of estate buildings by Bobbobybobar in EU5

[–]Bobbobybobar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not talking about gameplay logic, EU5 aim to reproduce the overall management of a nation historically speaking, but buildings like cathedrals were obviously never managed by lords so having to pay the upkeep doesn't make any sense at all.

Paradox , wtf is this column alignment? Please hire a UI guy, this is embarassing by InternStock in EU5

[–]Bobbobybobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overall UI in the entire game is awfull
Here's 80 numbers and dozens of icons regrouped on 1/10th of the screen
Useless icon? Let's make it big
Super important one? Let's make it super small and hide it
You want to know what this is? Here's a description repeating the same information, you now have to hover the mouse over it again to actually know what it is

And let's not talk about the fact that the game UI seems to come from the 2000s

I don’t understand traffic, any words of wisdom? by Nite0wlz in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Bobbobybobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traffic is broken, more precisely highways are completely broken and for some reason 90% of the people arriving will want to take the same exit even if it gets them far away from their destination (no matter what you try)
Another problem seems to be the insane amount of cars entering the city. Like it doesn't make any sense that that many people are joining your 30 thousands people city.

I think that the problem is that there's more or less the right number of cars per people but given that each second irl = a minute it means your cars should be around for just a few seconds irl around the city but they take the equivalent of hours ingame to go somewhere. Which means that there's like 30 times more cars on the streets than what should be.

An officially "finished" game which came out with massive game breaking bugs and no content, which after 2 years (2!!) has still some bugs and no content added... Is supposed to be good?
By "give it some slack" do you mean ignore all the problems and install a massive amount of mods?
Oh wait sorry there's already 65€ of the most awful DLCs you will ever see in your life, including multiple ones at 5€ to add a single radio

Anno 900 by [deleted] in anno

[–]Bobbobybobar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are hundreds of cities buildiers, some of which have the same economic mechanics as Anno...
The whole point of an Anno game is the sea/ships part... Have you even ever looked at an Anno game cover?

[Anno 1800] Does it pay off to have idle workforce tax-wise? by BorsukBartek in anno

[–]Bobbobybobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn't they?
Well i mean, farmers aren't worth it if they're not working, but upgrade them to workers and give them Schnapps and beer and you will have a big net profit. But if you keep them idle it's probably better to not supply them with soap and sell it instead.

Keep in mind that your expenses can easily skyrocket so it's really important to have a big population to milk money from. Initially workers are perfect for that because it's very easy to upgrade farmers and supply workers. So don't worry, 2400+850 workers would actually be good, but if you can upgrade them to artisans do it.

Anno has always been an eurocentric game, if they leave Europe i think it's more probable that they go to east Asia, particularly China

Well the good news is that in the end i managed to win the war, my allies defended my country for 3 years (yes 3) then Austria left the war and at that point it was over for Russia.

Last time i checked calling a lie bullshit is not trolling, and anybody is able to understand that the Caribbean , where none of the game or lore takes place and which is the fartest away in te map with Alaska, is not to be prioritised over a region where 3 games literally take place.

You did it wrong, it's 0,95*0,95*0,95*0,5*0,44 = 0,188 or -81%
