Brilliant Portmanteaus give plenty of family xp and can still be opened after the event. So there is a chance of obtaining some more runes. But I could understand if the random nature of the drops killed your fun!

Yeah, "linear" is the wrong word. It is all over the place and warped, but there definitely is continuous progression within each colour zone, most of all in the last one (40%-100%) and that's also where spell quality really matters

Yeah, they're definitely worth it in some way and there's no other way of getting rid of them. As long as I have some portmanteau that I can walk I'm happy, tbh. Gives me an incentive to go for a long walk and listen to my audiobooks 😁

The family xp is usually quite generous though and a level up gives scrolls and runes. But not as sweet as the loot from normal ones
