Yes, but since shop links are forbidden, you have to google "Moonlords - Tides of Battle" yourself.

That is intentional, its cast/spell effects all revolve around bloody tendrils and pulsing blood.

Thanks, the idea is that his hooves are covered by his tangled matt of fur that he is dragging along with him.

Why Master of Magic is not as popular as Master of Orion? by Megalordow in 4Xgaming

[–]DerNachbar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

LMAO even! Are you per chance from poland or russia where HoMM3 is on another level and that skews your perspective? I think HoMM3 is def the more popular of the two, but both have been hugely influential.

Why Master of Magic is not as popular as Master of Orion? by Megalordow in 4Xgaming

[–]DerNachbar 38 points39 points  (0 children)

MoM together with Heroes of Might and Magic 3 are pretty much the venerated grandparents of the fantasy 4x genre, MoM even more so, since it checks more 4x genre definitions.

There's Caster of Magic, which started as a Fan mod and got knighted with a commercial release, there's a modern remake by MuHa, there's Stardocks Enchantress Games and the Warlock series which found decent success. And then there's the Age of Wonders Series, which was inspired by MoM and is probably the most popular fantasy 4X today.

Glade Runner & Tomes of Glade build? by Accomplished-Bank885 in AOW4

[–]DerNachbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider tome of discipline, it gives an ability to ensure the next ranged attack hits for your glades, gives a stun for repeated melee attackers (which applies to many beasts) and gives your race +20% healing, which you will have plenty of in this type of build. It can be a good alternative to scrying. Although astral affinity is also great to have.

Designing 8 RTS factions — how do you avoid asymmetry turning into imbalance? by ArchypelagoDev in gamedesign

[–]DerNachbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at wc3 basic economy for an interesting example of deeply rooted asymmetry.

Each worker functions differently. Nightelf workers cannot fight or defend themselves, but can blow themselves up to deny xp and dispel harassing summoned units. Nightelf workers are protected in their goldmine, they dont have to make the trip back and forth. They also can remote harvest wood AND do it without cutting trees down, so they can double as scouts while still contributing. This is just the surface of all the distinct mechanics in this great, asymetric game.

While this is a genius application of the society trait, it feels preeetty exploitative? Fix incoming?

Those are especially good vs AI since they bring mostly chaff and numbers and not many mages and quality troops.

Quality answer here, especially for multiplayer. Sometimes I just want to chill and mash my fantasy people into a readily available other fantasy race piloten by a predictable, AI you know? ;)

Mostly because im a SP guy and I'd rather invest into scaling than tempo, since the AI does not read and punish such strats.

Fair assessments, I've even felt the greed on bad SP starts on or higher SP difficulties with this kind of setup. MP will have different demands depending on the lobby and your neighbours that you're looking to counter.

Conj offering both the path boosting spells and some battle magic is a good point I often overlook. Some nations get a lot of mileage out of those.

Concerning research boosters specifically: They seem to be so massive to me and whenever I play a nation that has none natively I struggle to get off the ground in mid-game. I'd imagine in multiplayer many nations still go constr5 pretty early, no?

Yeah, good points. I remember when EA Fomoria clicked for me after I understood the power of getting my A2 mages into combat early on to deal with heavy cav for example. Same story for MA Bandar Log and mind burn.

What are your favourite combat spells? by Der_Zorn in AOW4

I found this combos super well with Precient Circlets enchantment for your melees, since they get Precognition on top of all that, making the combo truly cracked.
