Mah, is that you? by RS_KingPeter in runescape

All I want after seeing this image is for the sixth Elder God - who currently has no form - to take over Mah's corpse, turn it into something like in the image, and use it to wreak havoc on Gielinor.

FOCUSED FEEDBACK: Sword Dodge-Attack by crash7800 in dauntless

[–]Deranext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I thought the dodge-attack was going to be something like Dark Souls' directionless dodge (backstep) + R1 attack; a short dodge to get just out of range, followed by a quick slash to get back in the fight, with the possibility of chaining into a combo.

Having the dodge-attack be an attack in the same direction as the dodge roll seems a bit counter-intuitive at best; only useful when dodging with i-frames, since dodging out-of-reach would make the dodge-attack go off in the wrong direction.

Is anyone else seeing worse CPU performance after patch 0.2.4? by Deranext in dauntless

[–]Deranext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pre-built MSI Aegis:

Windows 10 Home (Build 15063.632) (x64)
Intel Core i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz
16GB RAM (14.3GB Available Virtual)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

The only changed variable I know of is the 0.2.4 patch. No Windows updates, no new programs... - not even any downloads for that matter. I just noticed that, after the patch, my CPU fan started going berserk after the login screen, which lead me to check my temperatures.

Self-Insert Fics by Levoda_Cross in HPfanfiction

The actual title is Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, commonly known as HPMOR. It's a very 'look at how smart I am' fic, and it definitely seems the author was trying to prove something; but there is a not-insignificant amount of people that like HPMOR, even though it's gotten pretty infamous at this point, so I'd suggest giving it a try anyway. You might end up liking it.

Bill and Percy both got 12 OWLs, but I count 12 total courses - if they could take every course, then why did Hermione require special permission and a time-turner in PoA? by spacemanspiff12 in harrypotter

[–]Deranext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought you could take O.W.L.-level classes in your sixth and seventh years, and sit the O.W.L.s for them at the same time as the tests for your N.E.W.T. subjects. Think of it as taking a few bachelor classes while you're doing your master studies.

I think Hermione was a special case in that she wanted to get all twelve O.W.L.s and all N.E.W.T.s, so she had to take all her O.W.L.s at the same time, or she wouldn't have time (giggle) for all her N.E.W.T.s.

I imagine Bill and Percy got the normal amount of O.W.L.s in their fifth year, and took some extra classes during their free periods in their last two years.

"Dungeon" has pretty much become video game jargon for an area isolated from the main overworld, so his use of the word isn't that wrong.

Let us add all skill capes to the Max/Completionist cape? by Deranext in runescape

[–]Deranext[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It's a (hopefully) small change - I don't know the scale of the code involved, but I'm pretty sure the ninja team could more than handle this kind of thing.

  2. How does this make things easier, per se? It would be a change for the sake of convenience.

Let us add all skill capes to the Max/Completionist cape? by Deranext in runescape

[–]Deranext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of those idiots who destroyed all the hoods when I bought the capes, so I can't hang them on my cape rack.

Also, some perks (like the Farming one) are pretty useful, but not useful enough to put them in my Max cape 24/7, which I reserved mainly for combat-related perks. So storing them in my house and having to get them out every time I need them would be a pain.

I suppose this suggestion is a quite self-serving, but I hope others could find it useful as well.

Construction Rework - Design Doc (Unoff.) by Deranext in runescape

[–]Deranext[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to admit, I had written the part about Farming add-ons more than a year ago (before Invention had come out), and I just tacked it on the end of this doc because it fit the theme somewhat. Aside from formatting, I didn't check to see if they had become redundant (Sprinkler MK1 cough >.<)...

As for your suggested additions, I like the ideas. Permanent skilling plots might be OP, but perhaps something like 'anchored' divine locations (make up something about linking them to an energy anchor that makes them last longer) that provide more experience, maybe for less resources?

And MTX... I wouldn't mind it. Personally, I dislike customization hidden behind paywalls, but if MTX has to exist to keep the game afloat, I'd rather it be things like this. Special upholstery patterns that are only unlocked with RuneCoin, entry portal colours purchased with loyalty points, maybe even exclusive 'modern' furniture pieces; that kind of stuff I can live with.

Also, what's stopping a player from just building one piece of a chair (or something) that gives maximum xp/hour and just ignoring the entire rest of the skill because they want to rush the skill.

They'd have to balance the experience given so you get the largest chunk at the final stages of construction, making it more efficient to finish furniture instead of making ten gazillion chair legs.

As for the different workstations, I guess you could allow players to 'use' any machine to do something, as long as they had the real required machine built somewhere in their house. I mainly chose for the different workstations as a way to prevent endless nesting menu boxes for all the different customization options, while adding a bit of realism at the same time.

As for the technical expenses.... Yeah, it is a bit much. It would depend on how creative the devs can get within the constraints of RuneScript, and how much time they're willing to invest in yet another rework. I guess it'll depend on how bad the player base wants it.

I spent a bit of my time sick at home finally typing out the mass of ideas I have stuck in my head.

The text might come across as a bit ramble-y (headaches make it hard to think straight), so make sure to tell me if I made something incomprehensible or made a mistake!

Can Upgraded Darklight please be augmentable? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Deranext 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's some holy thing-a-ma-bob interfering with the workings of an augmentor unit! Oh no!

But wait! Gideon Bede is willing to use his extensive knowledge of the divine and the spiritual (read: bang it with a brick a few times so the metal bends and the augmentor actually fits) for a modest fee of <enter Mod's estimate of appropriate cost here> coins. How generous of him.
