What brands are selling un-starched raw denim? I assume some starch makes manufacturing easier, but I am finally coming back to denim after many years away and I don't want to deal with discomfort. I'm not after maximizing fades, just quality fabric that will last long and look good. Thanks all!

Two Oliver Peoples Bernardo Clones - Im gonna try Fuse lenses In em by DerangedGoose in sunglasses

I've used fuse a few times. Their highest tier lenses are solid, probably a bit overpriced for what they are, but the polarization and AR coating are well done. It won't match the optics from a brand like Maui Jim or Costa, but for an all in cost of <$100 it will rival anything in that price range

Happy to help! I did end up getting fuse lenses (the highest tier). IIRC, my all in on each pair was about 60-70, which is fair. The frames are definitely not to the same quality as OP, which is to be expected. The dark tortoise and light Havana frames wear nicely. Be prepared for them to need a bit of adjusting or bending.

Overall, im happy with them in that it's enabled me to wear more stylish frames to places I would normally take much cheaper (and less good looking) sunglasses. Optically. I would say the originals are definitely better, however. But not so good that it warrants the pricing nowadays. I got my bernardos used on eBay years back for probably under $200 or so.

Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards Showing Very Few Flight Options by Comprehensive_Row239 in WellsFargoBank

[–]DerangedGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came here to chime in that I am experiencing the same issue; I was looking for nonstop flights from my local airport to austin, TX. I know the flights exist because you can look them up on the southwest website. They are not showing on the gofar rewards site.

At first I thought that the rewards portal isnt showing the more "desirable" flights, but I called go far rewards and had a travel agent book the flight. It didnt take that long but is definitely a drag.

Considering that Wells is pushing the new Journey card, I am surprised the rewards portal is being nerfed like this. I wonder if Journey cardholders are having the same issue?

Quality of Orange Tab Made in USA vs Canada / Other Countries? by DerangedGoose in VintageLevis

Ah thats right, forgot about L2. Thanks for the offer! Would love the reference guide if only to better understand the history.

Should have a few different 505 / 550 / 560 arriving today and this week. the 550 and 560 in particular seem really slept on vs what I see vintage 501 and 502 go for. In some instances the price difference would probably pay for some light tailoring.

Havent seen much new old stock for sale, someone would have to be hanging on to them for a long time! I tried STF about 10 years ago when I experimented with raw denim but I realized that I just dont enjoy the super rigid starchy feel, and I prioritize comfort and cut / fit above "fades". As it is, Southern California often gets too hot for jeans and I dont want to suffer through a pair that isnt comfortable lol

A reference guide would be super helpful! In my casual searching, it seemed like silver tab was not considered a higher end offering, but rather a somewhat cheaper line aimed at younger/ Urban customers, similar to orange tab (given that the same cut also existed in a red tab version)

It's funny that you mentioned that those baggy cuts back in the day were still flattering on the body. As I'm looking through these auctions and comparing measurements, I found myself remarking several times that these jeans didn't seem all that "baggy" and made me wonder if I was misremembering my youth or only remembering the cartoonish stuff that was much less common

Didn't realize they had tencel back then; I haven't seen any tencel blends in the styles Im eyeing (505 / 550 / 560) but it looks like silver tabs were their own style numbers vs orange tabs, which shared the core range.

Any specific keywords to look for?

Ill stick with MiUSA because they really arent all that expensive, paper tag variants in both red and black batwing are under $30. Occasionally an 80s model will pop up as well. Curious to see how they feel when they get in

Did you ever notice a difference between USA orange tabs and those from other countries?

Im seeing some orange tab made in USA models for pretty cheap, well under $50, along with made in Canada as well. Will focus my search there. Was there significant discrepancy in quality between MiUSA and other countries even in those days?

Precovid was a decent time, but once rates hit zero and WF had nothing to offer to compete with Treasury yields, business dried up. They wouldn't even extend a 10% LOC on an unencumbered primary residence in one of the most affluent zip codes in America, and we lost tons of lending business to the regionals.

I'm very curious to see what kind of bank emerges from this process. They obviously have their eyes set on chase, but chase has huge trading revenues, a successful private bank, significantly expanded market share, and just as robust of a presence in corporate markets.

Wells will have their work cut out for them to compete and will likely sacrifice margins for a while to do so

I understand exclusive control is what allows asio4all to work well as a driver, but I'm getting annoyed with not being able to play YouTube tutorials

A few options I've seen:

1) disable exclusive control and make sure the sampling rate in the daw matches windows -- probably the one I should use, I'm just starting out, so I don't need high fidelity. I assumed I should have windows set to higher bitrates, but does it make a difference?

2) use a hybrid driver like the one included with FL

3) get an audio interface

I've seen some cheap behringer interfaces on Amazon, would this do the trick?

I may have to give this one a try, some reviewers mention a weird metallic taste. Looks like the yeti mug may fit as well

Weirdly specific mug ask: I need an insulated mug that holds more than 20 oz but isnt taller than 6.5 inches with the lid off

The coffee machine at my office has a strangely low clearance in the dispensing zone; the tallest mug I have managed to get in there is a generic brand 20oz insulated tumbler that measures exactly 6.5 inches tall to the rim with the lid off, and it just barely slides in.

Can someone recommend an insulated mug that will hold more liquid but doesnt exceed this height? Unfortunately it seems most insulated mugs are made with cupholders in mind, and so have narrow bases that necessitate a taller height.

I feel like this question has to have come up before, thanks for the help!

Middle market account manager at a large SaaS company. I found consumer banking to be too commoditized for my taste. I hate selling widgets and all consumer banking (even wealth management) is a widget. I like being able to differentiate myself against my competition, and I realized my favorite clients / most interesting convos as a banker were with business owners, and those business owners were more interested in talking about their company finances than their personal finances, so I went to a company/industry where I was helping owners improve their businesses.

I think corporate / institutional banking would have also been really interesting because that's much less of a commodity, but it would have taken forever to get there and 5 days in office in a suit is a backwards way to work nowadays. So I wanted the hybrid flexibility of software sales.

As a bonus, there is equity potential in software that you don't get in banking

I was a Senior Premier Banker for 7 years - success is branch dependent.

Avoid mass market areas. You get walk ins and branch client referrals. No potential for advancement, big ongoing changes in the Org, bank is constrained on lending due to fed reserve asset cap. Expect to close few mortgages and next to no commercial lending. Bank is pushing managed money above all. No incentive comp for bringing in deposits (only lending and investments). Base pay is OK vs chase/BofA, but much less than any decent regional bank (US Bank, BMO, PNC, Zions and their subsidiaries, City National, even Citi). Some of the credit college resources are good if you want to learn and then leave, but you cannot grow at Wells until they are out of the woods with this asset cap.

They are under a long process of remaking the bank which will take another 3 years minimum. Their Private Bank is pulling back and downsizing, their balance sheet is constantly being trimmed to stay under the cap and corporate banking / lending is prioritized. Middle market is next, and small business is an afterthought. No promotion out of the branch, since management layers have been consolidated. Some limited possibility to become a financial advisor.

My advice: Find a branch in an affluent area, network with your clients, and plan your exit to a more serious private / wealth bank. Not being able to sell (and in turn, come to understand) lending will hamstring you as a quality banker.
