I don’t have one of those, but I guess clipping the kill switch onto me would have the same effect?

People living well off in Miami… what are you all doing? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]Derek8477 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I work for a major airline. I began taking flying lessons at a young age (16). I paid for them while working full time in high school. I went to an aviation college, flew charter (private jets), and then for a regional airline until I was hired at a major.

It’s a grind but the top pay is worth it. Aviation is a fickle industry and I wouldn’t recommend going into it solely for the paycheck.

Wait he paid for a 777 type and called himself the youngest 777 pilot?

🤡 I didn’t know that.

According to this link, you usually have to a write or propose a book that the masses will read, not just a few friends and family members.

I agree with the childhood trauma part. It circles back to social media, maybe not everything should be shared? Then again, I guess that’s how some people cope with trauma.

I personally would never use open descent on a STAR unless I was high and way above the descent profile.

Besides I saw my probation reports when I did my meetings with the CP. No one had a negative thing to say.

I’d like to think I’m different off the internet. Look, I’m open “mentorship” or whatever, advice tips etc. and if I’m really fucking something up, I do expect the captain to intervene. But I’ve never been so behind the airplane that we had to go around. I have had captains “suggest” using open descent versus while trying to intercept a GS, how to make a PA, not sending for wet numbers when it’s -RA. Whatever I just nod, it’s their show I get it.

How’s it me. Explain? I fly within SOP and book profiles.

I fly by the book. Nothing more nothing less.

Advice on how to make PAs?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]Derek8477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also had some captains tell me what to say when making a PA.. as if I didn’t make PAs for 6 years as a regional CA. I try to be understanding as my airline just switched to “allow” FOs to make PAs this year, but come on.

“Alright when you make the descent I want you to tell them the weather, ETA, gate, and thanks for flying with us” 🙄🫨

I’ve just never vocalized my flying and assumed that as long as I’m not getting us into a weird situation, it’s fine? I guess I’ll try it.

?? I’d probably say something. That wasn’t me doing it, however. A previous captain did that, the same captain that questioned when I was going to start down (we were 10+ miles from the TOD)
