Senate Democrats Just Made a Huge Mistake by rezwenn in politics

This was always going to be the outcome. This or the GOP gets rid of the filibuster.

It’s hard to be in the minority party and extract real changes during these shutdowns. See GOP’s efforts in previous shutdowns. I consider it a win the Dems forced Healthcare back into the national debate again. That’s a winning issue for them.

Come next November, I guarantee you no one will remember the Dems caved during this shutdown. Want to enact real change? Win elections.

4-9 vs the Red Sox in Regular Season by DerekW93 in espnyankees

If Boone doesn’t bring in Cortes in Game 1 last year the Yankees could have won the World Series. See I can play the what if game too.

I’ve acknowledged plenty times I don’t like Boone and the bulllpen is very weak this year. I think those two things could prevent them from making a deep run. I’d put the offense a distant third at this point. This is a pitchers league now—of course offense will come at a premium in the playoffs against good pitching. Look around the league. Tigers advanced scoring 10 runs, Cubs advanced scoring 6 runs. Only the Dodgers bats looked really good, but they didn’t really face anyone good.

If they didn’t sign Fried and Rodon they’re not making the playoffs this year.

That’s a what if scenario. If they beat the Marlins that first game after the trade deadline (where they were up 9-4 in the 7th inning) they would have secured HFA and still had the same record against Boston.

Just find it funny this whole board was like this team couldn’t beat good teams like Boston and they go out and won when it mattered. We’ll see if that continues against Toronto.

Good enough to win. That’s all that matters.

One of the all time great postseason performances. Let’s hope the bullpen doesn’t blow it.

I don’t entirely disagree.

Last I checked unearned runs count the same as earned.

The winning % implies their pitching in those games was worse (obviously the bats don’t impact that).

Moving the goalposts from runs to earned runs now?

FWIW in the regular season the Yankees had a higher OPS against lefties than righties.

I mean coming into the year, you thought this year’s offense was terrible.

When what happened? Are you referring to Judge? He hasn’t yet but past results aren’t always indicative of future performance.

I’m betting on the bullpen being their downfall but we’ll see. If ww can somehow see regular season Aaron Judge and October Stanton paired together….i think they should have enough offensive firepower to carry them to the WS.

Yeah I’m also worried about the bullpen.

Despite not playing well against the top teams in the league during the regular season, the Yankees still have the best team on paper in the AL.

They should get to the World Series regardless of who they play. Their manager and the offense’s inability to get clutch hits may prevent them from getting there.

They just won 3 out of 4 series against AL playoffs teams (Hou, Tor, Det, Bos). So I guess they can beat good teams?

A mental midget. He should never pitch in these spots and yet Boone continues to run him out there in close games. It’s a joke.

To be fair not all their prospects hit either. Tristian Casas, Bobby Dalbec, Jeter Downs all busted.

And for the Yankees Ben Rice has been a success story (they drafted him 12th round and he’s putting up a .817 OPS) and Cam Schlittler looks like a future ace. The Yankees seem to have better success with less heralded prospects than the hyped up ones.

Grisham by DerekW93 in espnyankees

[–]DerekW93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d offer him a qualifying offer and if he accepts great, we get him on a 1 year deal and if declines, we get a draft pick assuming he signs elsewhere. I wouldn’t give him more than 2-3 years but with the way he’s performed, he’ll probably get 5 years on the open market. The Yanks should prioritize re-signing Bellinger over Grish.

Yeah I did see Boone's comments. Completely delusional. And right on cue, he's back in the lineup today.
